Steven Prager asked for information regarding his wife's GGF Max KOBRE who
sponsored many immigrants.

I have been compiling a spreadsheet of immigrants >from Kupiskis in Kovno
Gubernia shown on the Ellis Island database, including contact information.
The name Max KOBRE appeared a few times.

1. Benjamin KAPLAN who arrived in 1899 >from "Kupasib" was going to his
cousin Max KOBE? in NYC.

2. Anna SAKS who arrived in 1908 >from "Kupishky" was going to a relation
in NYC, c/o Max KOBRE.

3. Itzke BEDIL who arrived in 1909 >from "Slawenischky" was going to a
relation in NYC, c/o Max KOBRE.

Please note that none of these people were my relations.

Chana KLOTS from Lithuania/Chicago #general

Stepak

Seeking descendants of Chana KLOTS, daughter of David and Pesha, >from Seta
or nearby town in Lithuania. All I have to go on is an old family tree in
which it says, Leah, Chicago.
Her brothers were Benjamin, born ca 1855, and Movsha/Morris, b. ca. 1865,
both of whom went to New York. Her sister Leah married Avraham
Hurwitz/Wilck, and immigrated to Oudtshoorn, S. Africa.
I assume that when Chana immigrated, she was already married, as were her
siblings. Benjamin and Morris immigrated early in the 20th century. Each
sibling lived in a different town before immigrating, but I think all were
born in Seta.

Shelly,
Now that Ukraine is independent, it might be more expedient for you to
find a Ukrainian speaking guide. My sources tell me that the difference is not much (like between American and British English) but it is noticed and felt.
If there is a Ukrainian community where you live, you might contact them
for help. When I lived in Rochester, New York a Ukrainian Credit Union
near my workplace was very helpful.
