1930 One Step Website Update
#general
Joel Weintraub <jweintraub@...>
Group,
This is probably my last post on the project to transcribe the name of every street in every census district for large cities for the 1930 US Census. It's been an interesting 14 months since I started down this road. During that time Dave Kehs and Steve Morse joined the effort and made things a lot easier. This post is to inform you that all our target cities are now on the website to help you find an enumeration district number if you have a 1930 address. The last city, Chicago, was added today and was transcribed from NARA film M1931. We have 258 cities up, and can make the claim wehave *every* city over 45,000 on the website, and quite a few of the "smaller" ones as well. That includes cities that are in soundexed states and cities on address indexes on NARA's M1931 series. We probably cover about 36-37% of the people's addresses on the 1930 census. There is still work to be done on revising files, etc, but we have met our goals. Enjoy. Joel Weintraub, Dana Point, CA See: http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/census/

Dear community,
The consensus seemed to be that a "commercial clerk" was either a bookkeeper or a clerk in a commercial establishment. Thank you for your help! Richard May Buffalo,New York,USA

Roderick Lebon <rodlebon@...>
Dear Mr. Celmaster,
I have just been having another look at the 1870 Warsaw directory which is an absolute gold mine of information, and I am very grateful to you for mentioning it on the Warsaw Digest. However, I followed it up with a look at 1865 births and spotted Mosiek Celmejster, no 361 on film no. 0689555 (I will have to check that - think I originally missed out a digit, and my record is downstairs). I am sure you know about it, but thought in case you didn't, I would send it to you anyway. By the way, are you aware of any business directories or directories around 1880 - 1910? Best wishes, Karen Lebon Kent, England
