I don't believe this is absolutely true. I use Netscape exclusively andand Eudora and I have had quite a few viruses. (was RE: More Info on Bugbear) Sorry, out of the subject, but I believe the Moderator will publish this message... Dear all, By now you probably heard of the BUGBEAR virus/worm (also known as Tanatos). It's no hoax, it's VERY SERIOUS. Please visit McAfee's site to learn more about it and how to protect your computer: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_99728.htm Read the text with care since it explains the many forms this virus can take. It's not a stealth virus, it disguises itself creating subject lines which induce the receiver to open the email message to which this pest has been attached (this is why Faith thought the message came >from H-SIG). It also changes the filename constantly, so you may not perceive that a virus is being sent to you. The "vaccine" is already available on both the Symantec (Norton) and McAfee sites. Also NEVER forget: the BEST protection against virii remains frequent BACKUPing, DAILY if possible. The best, regards Tom Moderator VK: Please heed Tom's advice. The Bugbear is NOT a hoax. This is a real problem that attacks those who use certain MS products and ofcreates a major inconvenience for the rest of us who have to delete all the forged messages. PLEASE install virus protection and use it to protect your system and avoid infecting others.

Elaine, you gave no dates so I cannot relate exactly to your question. But yes, the Jews were expelled >from Riga more than once because they were not allowed to settle there and were sneaking in under all sorts of pretexts and staying. Too bad you weren't at the conference in Toronto because I talked just to this latter point that you ask. But the talk will be published in the SIG Bulletin, which paid up members receive, so it shouldn't be a total loss. You are definitely asking all the right questions! Martha

I have been searching for some time for my grandfather's three sisters and
have just found out that his niece, Bertha Gop(p) arrived through Ellis Island May 30, 1917. The shipping manifest states that she was going to herAunt, Gutel Meyerowitz of 35 Wall Street, Boston, Mass. This is the first time that I have "found" one of his three sisters, although I believe that all three went to Boston. The 6 brothers went to South Africa and it was only through the ALD that I discovered that there were also 3 sisters. Their parents (my great grandparents) were Shmuel Beniamin ben Abram Gop and Sora Rokhel bat Abram David Friedland. I have had some research done in Vilnuis with amazing success! Gutel Gop was born in Vilijampole, Kaunas on 29th December 1873. She may also have had a son Borukh, who was born in Kaunas in 1896, before her marriage to Mr ? Meyerowitz. I know nothing further about Gutel's family in Boston, or even when she left Lithuania. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction, perhaps has access to a Boston census 1910 or 1920? Thanks in advance Illona Hope Perth, Western Australia.
