Marcia Indianer Meyers <marciarthur@...>

Greetings,

My Grandfather Simon INDIANER is listed in the Chodorow town on AGAD
Fond 300.

He is listed a number of times as a witness. I would like a translation of the
remarks and copies if available for a few pages.

My Uncle is also listed as a groom and another as a witness.

I have the page numbers and the line numbers.

I tried to copy using the snipping tool - but it didn't work.

Thank you for any help,

Marcia Indianer Meyers

The death certificate of my great great great great grandmother, Blume
LINDEMAN of Kutno, in 1818 mentions her son in law,
Micha Glukeberg, who was said to have been a 'kaizerny clerk in Kutno'.
Anyone know what that meant?

Starting with this son-in-law and using JRI-Poland indexes, I have
created a large tree of descendants of Ryfka Lindeman (sister of my
ggg grandfather in Kutno) and her husband, Micha Glukeberg.

Would love to know more about this family - in Kutno and Warsaw - and
what happened to them in the 20th century and beyond:

ViewMate Tombstone Translations #general

I have posted to ViewMate a tombstone for which I would very much appreciate a
translation of the Hebrew portion. Unfortunately, the only photo I have is not
of great quality, as it is partly in shadow, for which I apologize, but I am
hopeful that someone may be able to make out the lettering. The file can be
found at the following address:

Please respond using the form provided in the ViewMate application or to me

Jewish Cemetery Wisnicz Poland? #poland

Alan K'necht <alan@...>

His wife was told that her grandfather's metzivah (tombstone) was
still standing many years ago in the town of Wisnicz (10km south east
of Bochina and approx. 50 km south west of Karkow), Poland. She was
told it was on top of a hill in the cemetery.

They hope some might visiting near Wisnicz in the next while and is
willing to go to the cemetery to take a picture of the metzivah. My
friend is willing to pay for it.

The name on the tombstone is Moses Mandelbaum and he died in 1941.

If you're going to be in that area or know of someone who will and
is willing to locate the tombstone and take a picture please let me know.

Dear Siggers:

The Oradea Burial Records project will continue photographing the eastern
section of the Velenta Cemetery of Oradea as soon as winter is over in
Romania. Please note, however, that I have advanced cash for photographs
taken last year. Please consider donating to the project so I can retrieve
the funds I already advanced for the project. Thanks all who have
contributed to this important project, which has documented Jewish life

Leah,

Have you thoroughly searched the JewishGen Hungary database? I found
quite a few records for STEINMETZ Majer Pinkesz and his children.
Frimet's surname is variously given as KIPER, KOPER, KOPPER, KUPER.
In addition to the children you have identified, there was also a
son Slojme born Feb 1881 who died Oct 1882.

What additional information are you seeking?

Searching: Walawitsky/Chwalvitsky from Brest-Litovsk #belarus

Dear Belarus SIG,

I am sure you have posted this before, but please excuse me for asking again.
I am wanting to find out my elusive Mother's family information.
They came >from Brest-Litovsk, way back at the beginning of the 20th
century, maybe around 1908.
I have been told that the information about Brest can be found in MINSK.
I know nothing.
Any and all information about all aspects of going to Minsk and trying
to find information about my family would be deeply appreciated.

The name, in English spelling, is WALAWITSKY. The ships manifest for
my Great Grandfather spelled it Chwalvitsky, Shaye CHWALVITSKY.
I have found the graves in NY. Yeshuya WALAWITSKY. That is as far as I
can find. I found the NY enumeration where he was living and my Aunts
and Uncles names (they are all dead now)
If a trip to Minsk is needed, I will go, but I am totally a novice.

Thank you for all help and please excuse for the ignorance about it.
Better I learn fresh than carry around some possibly wrong
information.

Hi Genners,
I just finished my full registration for the conference and went
immediately to reserve a room at the Hilton for seven nights. The
least expensive that came up is 700zl ($209) which comes up to about
another $60/night give or take over the offered conference rate.

If I remember correctly, in some past conferences when the hotel sold
out for the IAJGS rate, the organizers arranged for the hotel to
release more rooms at the conference rate. Any chance of this being
done for those many who like myself were not among the first 200 or so
who registered and had first access to the rooms? Certainly hope so.
See you in Warsaw.... Safe travels!
