CROWN FAMILY PITTSBURGH PA. #usa

Kroll

Looking for information about the ISAAC CROWN family who in the 1880 census
were living in Pittsburgh. Isaac and his wife Annetta were born in Prusia in
the 1830s. They moved to England where their son Joseph was born in 1855 and
from there to the States where their son Errin ws born in 1860. Other
children living in their household in 1880 were Sadie (1862), Millie(1863),
Amanda (1866) and Reuben (1867). Since my Crohn/Crown family also came to
the U.S. >from Posen, Prussia via England I belive that there might be a
connection. Living in Israel I do not have access to records other than what
I can find on line, so all assistance would be appreciated.

While checking the EIDB I came across the given name Pesse,

Does anyone know the origin of meaning of that name?

Now that the Holidays are over please do start to send in your messages. I
know that there is a general mood of sadness and we all share it. However
by sharing our thoughts and exchanging information we will get back to a
feeling of a new beginning and the thought that life is for living. We
must not allow anyone bent on destroying the human race the chance to
triumph and the only way we can beat them is to try to live as normal a
life as possible. I will be away >from Friday until the last week of October
and I have arranged for the newsgroup to be moderated.

Does anyone know anything about the Red Cross Sanitarium in Lvov, and
particularly about Dr. Joseph GUTSTADT who was a doctor there in the
1920's?
Thanks for your help.

Roslyn Sherman Greenberg
Homewood, IL
Sanatorium Czerwonego Krzyza (Red Cross Sanatorium) was located before the
WWII on 107 Lyczakowska Street, Lwow.
I do not have access to other information about the sanatorium or its
personnel. Dr Gutstadt name does not appear in the medical doctors list of
1929 Lwow.
There were other two known sanatorium in Lwow prior to WWII:

- Dr. Swiatkowski Sanatorium, 54 Dwiernicka street and
- Sanatorium of the "Against theTuberculosis" Association. This lung
desease sanatorium has been actually located in Holosko Wielkie, village
near Lwow (2 miles distance). It is also possible that Dr. Gutstadt was
employed by other sanatorium in Eastern Galicia as a "seasonal" doctor.
for example, Spa Truskavets near Boryslaw (mineral waters) employed large
amount of doctors on the seasonal (the late spring to early autumn)
contarcts. Other sanatorium in Eastern Galicia were located mostly
alongside the eastern slopes of Carpathian Mountains known as Bieskid
Wschodni. Spa Morszyn near Stryj was one of those known spa/sanatorium
places.

Hope this help

Missing Manifests #general

Don Einbinder <donjein@...>

I had previously found the text manifest for my uncle, but was unable to
find the original manifest on the EIDB site. Even the Morse missing
manifests page yielded no results after trying several times. Last
night I tried once more and, lo and behold, there it was! Does this
mean that original manifests are still being added to the EIDB, or is
there some other explanation?
