Translation-Thank You+?? #hungary

BORMANJL@...

Hello,
Thank you to all the wonderful people who translated those Hungarian words
for me! Both lines came >from the same document: There is one column for
Groom information and another for Bride information. This raises another
question: Can you help me translate the words written in those columns?

1. Samuel...Hirs...Samonowiss?...Fali

2. Abraham...Burger...Pepi

For #1 the Grooms name is Mor Moskovitz.
For #2 the Brides name is Julianna Grosz.

Thank you in advance!!

Julie Maltz Borman

I've not been readings postings lately, so I may be a little late on this.
I know of no global directory, but the following may be useful.

This non-commercial site has links to 15 phone directories.

This site has advertising, but one can search for phone numbers and email

Heike Kristhofen <Heike.Kristhofen@...>

Hi!
Now I thing I´m ready to write to jewishgen.
First at all I has to tell that my grandfather Arthur Kristowski, born
near by Gdansk/Poland was a christ.
But I found in the Courland Enlistment Registers and Family Lists the name
Chaie Kristowsky and in the lists of Poland Chrystowski´s too.
Now I would like to find out a connection between my grandfather and these
families, because I know that our familyname has often chanced in the last
decades. Also I would like to know what Kristowski or Kristowsky means and
were this name comes from. Can anyone help? Thank You for help!

Neibaden, Lifland #general

Dear All,

Reading through Solomon Katzen's memoirs of Sasmacken (wonderful read! -
see the Courland site) I came across a nameplace: Neibaden, in Lifland,
where his grandfather came from. It does mention that the place is on the
sea. As Sasmacken is in Latvia, I assume it is on the Baltic coast.

I can't find such a place! I have searched shtetlseeker, looked through
geographic thesaurus, searched the web, tried some variations of spelling...

Can anyone help?

Ron Goldman writes in part:
"Years ago (many) the State of Michigan allowed plates to be 'run' by any
automobile dealer who belonged to NADA (National Ass'n of Auto Dealers).
My guess is that they were then able to check ownership of any car they
might be considering taking as a tradein."

If my memory serves me correctly - they were allowed to run the VIN numbers
to check the ownership/history of the vehicle. Plates were never the
option because plates can be transfered >from vehicle to vehicle. VIN
numbers cannot. (Vehicle Identification Number)
