Photo request from Mt. Carmel Cemetery #photographs

I am hoping that someone would be able to take a photo of a headstone for me in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Glendale, NY.  It is for David Stern, location 1-E-30-H-4.  I believe this is my great uncle, Rabbi David Stern, who died in 1955 and for whom I am named.  I would be willing to pay a modest sum for your time and trouble.

Many thanks in advance.

I have found Iglicka Chana born 1922, father Szlama,
sent to the spec-village Abramkowo on 13.07.1940 from Bialystok region.
After amnesty she went to the city of Samarkanda ( Republic of Uzbekistan) on 11.09.1941.
There is her personal file in the Archangielsk Archive. (signature AR-T- -4950)
The site for the archive
I heard that it  is necessary to write them in Russian.
I don't know where Abramkowo was. It should be in the Archangielsk region (Oblast), but I don't find it on the list of its spec-villages.
On the list there is Icko Rzezak, born 1914, son of Lejzer
You can search here
The river on which they were traveling had to be Amu Daria. People were put on large barges, many did not survive this flight (diseases, poor nutrition). The end of the flight was in Farab.
By the way my ggfather Jozef Zaremba and one of his daughters were sent to one of the spec-villages in Archangielsk Oblast in February 1940. They lost their lives on the Amu Daria River.

You could request the death certificate for Gussie Deutsch from the NY City department of Health, but i believe that a person needs to be a direct descendent of the deceased to do so.

You might have better luck requesting the marriage license for the couple, and the 1901 birth certificate for the first child Helen, from the Luzerne PA county courthouse/Register of Wills-Clerk of the Orphan Court. Though with the pandemic going on, that might take longer to be processed. Those would have the maiden name of Gussie Deutsch, and possibly her birthplace:

My Atlantic City family is buried in Rodef Sholem cemetery in Cardiff County.  I searched via FindAGrave; there  are a lot of Friedmans but no Bertha or Ann.

I am pretty new to posting here and hoping I have hastags and format correct.
A promise made to my late mother-in-law has taken me on an eye-opening and so inspiring, but heartbreaking, heart-wrenching journey of understanding and desire to know all we can about the experiences that brought Anna Iglicka Rzezak Siegel and Israel Rzezak Siegel together and able to survive unimaginable horrs that took the lives of dozens of their loved ones -- nearly their entire families murdered by the time they made it back to their pre-war hometowns.

We have videos of both Izzy and Annie, and notes and some documents. We are retracing their lives and doing extensive research.

We are looking for any tips for direction in reaching out for the following:

Anna Iglicka Rzezak Siegel's family in Lodz or Zdunska Wola.  Her father Shlomo Iglicki was a rabbi.  Her mother Rosa Pakentregger Iglicka  was a housewife.  Anna was the youngest of six children.  Her father told her she was young and could run as Nazi's invaded. She reluctantly did, still as a teen and alone.  She eventually boarded a train to Siberia and was put to work in a logging camp.   When the pact was signed releasing work camp detainees, she made her way by boat to Russian farms and contacted diseases, lost a baby, and learned that all but a brother had been killed while she was away.

Israel Rzezak Siegel was drafted to the Polish and then Russian Armies.  He left his hometown of Lodz, a wife and two young children.  He unknowingly was on the same train that his future wife was on to Siberian logging camp, and then the boat through Russia. They never met until they were off the boat and on the farms and towns in Russia.  Izzy learned that his wife and first two children were murdered, just like Annie's family.

Both managed to get to America on the Marine Perch, where my husband and two younger sons were born.

I have documents and some facts, not enough.

Can anyone advise how to get birth certificates, death certificates, and records from military and work camp detention in Siberian logging camp, and anything else that could help?

Thank you so much for anything you can do to help us. Stanley B. and Sharon E. Siegel, Port Jervis, NY USA

Gussie DEUTSCH passed on in 1970.  Both Gussie & Daniel are at Mt. Zion with a society named Auerbach.  The Mt. Zion databases is searchable by surname alone, by surname & society name, and by society name alone.

Finding Prague marriage record #austria-czech

A relative said their ancestors were married in Prague in the "Embassy" shortly after the formation of the Czech Republic after WWI. Their child was born in Feb 1922 so that would make the marriage between October 1918 and about June 1921. She stated that the marriage certificate was numbered 1. That caused some trouble later in Romania when they went there because the officials did not believe there was a certificate numbered 1. Bride: Gertrud (also called Trude) Herrnheiser from Prague. Groom: Adolf Barta from Arad, Romania.

How can I find the marriage record? And, what could the "Embassy" have been?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

My father was the oldest of 7. He arrived in the US from Lithuania in 1912. When the rest of the family wanted to emigrate, the US said NO!! They went to Argentina and my father never saw them again.

My aunt Hinda(?) FELD born in Dobrzyn nad Wisla in 1899(?) married a Zekiel.  In post war documents from the UK her birth year is given as 1910 and name as Nina.  I have no information about her husband besides the last name, from her UK documents.  He may have been her second husband and every indication is that he died in the war.

Anyone searching Zekiel that can shed light on the connection?

Re: Looking for Louis Rutledge and Anna nee Goldstein West Virginia and Ohio and New York #general #usa

Searching the Mount Zion website ( for "R" name in the Zabludower section brings up Louis Rotkowitz and Anna Rutledge:

Louis Rotkowitz - buried 9 Apr 1933
(Death record: Louis Rutkovege, age 65. Died 8 April 1933 Brooklyn. Wife Anna.)

Anna Rutledge - buried 17 Oct 1954
(Death record: Anna Rutledge, age 83. Died 16 Oct 1954 ?Richmond ?Brooklyn -- index is unclear.)

Their double grave, pictured on FindaGrave, says Louis and Anna Rutledge.

And this must be Arthur:

1910 census - Henry St., Manhattan - Abe Rotkovege, age 12, born NJ (jives with Paterson NJ on marriage record)

1915 census - Howard Ave, Brooklyn - Abraham Rutkovege, age 17, born US
(Index has the wrong parents, because census pages are out of order.)

He's not with his parents (Ruthovege) in 1920.
In 1925, Louis and Anna "Roatleich," were living at 1424 Eastern Pkwy., close to the address on Arthur's death record. By 1930, they're Rutledge.  (All spellings mentioned are as indexed on Ancestry.)

Arthur's siblings: Rose, Ida, Sarah/Shirley, Sam, Lillie/Lillian, Alex.

This is sad news.  Al and I had corresponded about our shared heritage in Muhlhausen, Bavaria and worked together on researching the Reizenstein family history.  In addition to being a talented researcher, Al was a kind and generous soul.  May his memory be a blessing.

Sinko, Shinke, Sinka from Lithuania #lithuania

Diane Jacobs

I prefer my husband's quote when describing me as a genealogist. She is more interested in the dead than the living.
Just in case this resonates with others from
Lithuania, after 20 years of searching for my maternal grandfather's family, I have learned that Singman in NYC and Wash. DC were not Schimkov as stated in there 1888
passenger manifest from Vilna, but Sinko
or Shinke from Gelvonai, Sirvintos and Jonava.
Anyone with similar names, please contact me.  Thanks.
