Hi,
Is it possible the town is KaschaU (and the script N is really a script U)? This would be present day Kosice, Slovakia. Since you mentioned the town to be in current-day Romania,I would not exclude the possiblity of this town to be one of the below towns in the Csik region (old spelling, not the contemporary one). - Kaszon-Altiz - Kaszon-Feltiz - Kaszon-Imper - Kaszon-Jakabfalu - Kaszon-Ujfalu FYI I have checked the gazetteer of the Kingdom of Hungary in 1892 and these are the only ones to be close enough…
I hope this helps.

Re: 1910 Manhattan census - Seward Park Strollers
#usa
azmyrna@...
They are not necessarily homeless. I have been searching a Alex/Alexander Weber. He is in the 1910 census twice! He is one of the "Seward Street Strollers" and is also listed with his wife Mary living on 52 Sherrif Street. I have tried over the years to find any reference to the Strollers to no avail. He clearly wasn't homeless but he had no occupation and he died a year later so perhaps he have just "hung out" with others in the Park.

Alexander Sharon
Hi,
One of the town Kosice in Slovakia variations name is Kaschau.
Alexander Sharon JGFF coordinator On a US World War I document for a not-so-close relative, it says that he was born in "Kaschan, Hungary." The rest of the family came from various towns in what is today northwestern Romania. I would consider the target region to be bounded by a triangle of large places Oradea, Cluj, and Tasnad. I believe this relative also came from this region. I've searched the JG Town Finder and Gazetteer with various search strategies with nothing even remotely close. The only reference to the town that I can find by googling, other than someone else also claiming to come from Kaschan, is a reference to the "Kaschan-Oberbergar Bahn" supposedly part of a rail network in Austria-Hungary. Any suggestions? TIA. Steve Stein Highland Park, NJ USA

There are two good sources to Jewish genealogy blogs.
The first is a list I created a few years ago. It is at my blog The Extra Yad at https://extrayad.blogspot.com/ The direct link to the list of Jewish geneabloggers is at https://extrayad.blogspot.com/p/jewish.html I intend to update this list before the end of the calendar year. If any Jewish genealogy bloggers are not on my list, please contact me at extrayad@... and provide a link to the blog home page. Another good source for all genealogy blogs is at https://geneabloggers.com/members/ Enter Jewish in the search box to find those who include topics of interest to Jewish researchers. This morning there were 59 bloggers listed who cover Jewish topics. Emily Garber extrayad@... https://extrayad.blogspot.com

Hello
If you mean the birth and marriage certificates of the civil records office, you should look at the Standesamt Würzburg or the Stadtarchiv Würzburg. By the way there is a database project of the University of Würzburg about Jews in Lower Franconia: https://www.historisches-unterfranken.uni-wuerzburg.de/juf/Datenbank/ https://www.historisches-unterfranken.uni-wuerzburg.de/juf/Datenbank/juf.php?global=reset Regards Corinne Iten Switzerland

I just spoke with the folks at my library (Alamance County, North Carolina). They do have the library edition of Ancestry.com but it is their understanding that it can only be reached from within the library. Is there someone, someplace they can contact so that they can offer this service to the community to use at home? Thank you, Linda Cahill

Thanks to all the respondents. The main suggestions aside from Koson, Ukraine include Kosice, Slovakia (a.k.a. Kassa) and Kasov, Slovakia. However, in the 1930 census, this person indicates that he was born in Romania (and his parents in Hungary), which is why I suggested limiting the search to the Crisana/Transylvania region. By 1930, the places suggested were firmly in Czechoslovakia, not Romania, so I doubt these are correct. For those who were curious and feel this information might be key, his surname was FRIEDMAN.

Cindy,
I do not recognize them. However, I discovered 2 Max's in my family who were brothers. Neither came to the US, but each of their families in the US called them Max. One was Moshe (my gggf), the other was Mordechai. I have discovered that people who came to the US not only anglicized their own names, but also the names of their ancestors. Robert Hanna NYC
