Search for missing relatives
#hungary
Tomer Brunner
Dear H-siggers,
For the last few months there is a regular program on an Israeli radio channel Which is called “search bureau for missing relatives”. This program is on the air every day for 15 minutes in which people can call and ask about relatives or friend with whom the connection was lost. you can also send letters to be read during the program. When I talked with the editor of this program I was told that they are working on a web page to accommodate all the info they receive. Until now they havn't mention it. Anyways, here is some info related to Hungary which I happen to hear in the last few weeks: 1) some one was looking for his grandmother’s sister, HELENA REICH, >from Budapest. If I’m not wrong, he said she was about 65 years old during the war. 2) Another person asked about : JANOVITS family >from a village near Cluj (Kolozsvar) who later moved to Cluj. (B.T.W. – I lately discovered a connection to Janovits >from Cluj but have only one name >from this family now). The address for letters: (I'll write Hebrew with english characters) " MADOR LeCHIPUS KROVIM " KOL ISRAEL - RESHET BET, ROMEMA, JERUSALEM ISRAEL I’ll try to give more Hungarian-related info in the future. Regards, Tomer Brunner, Israel. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail >from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

Free Hamburg List Lookup
#belarus
Simpson, Joseph <JSimpson@...>
To All,
I just wanted to resend this as I wasn't very clear in my initial announcement. Sorry about that. Again, on Tuesday of next week I am going to the Mormon library to look at the Hamburg Passenger List which has recently arrived, and I will lookup your ancestor in the Hamburg Passenger List, IF the following is true: -Your ancestor departed >from Hamburg port between 1870-1875 -Your ancestor took an indirect route to America, ie, they FIRST went to London, Liverpool, etc. -You have the specific name of the individual -Where the individual came from Even if you only suspect the individual left Hamburg in the early 1870's I would be glad to check for you. I have had a few responses thus far, but all have mentioned individuals that left Hamburg in the 1900's, owing to the fact that I wasn't clear about the precise years in my initial offer. I doubt I will be able to check these because I think the Mormon library only ordered the specific reels dealing with the years I was interested in. Thank you, Joseph Simpson Glens Falls, NY Researching ROSENFELD in Brest, Belarus

Child marriages were common. They occurred with kids under 14.
I once saw an entry extracted >from Amsterdam Archives stating that although Jewish marriages are allowed, they may not be consummated until the bride reaches the age of majority-which was 12 at the time. Sally Bruckheimer Buffalo, NY
