Gzsuzsi@...

Greetings to everyone!

For those of you who are perusing >from time to time this memorial book, I
finally finished translating a rather moving letter written by Magda Simon, a
journalist and writer >from Oradea, the day before her deportation. It can be
found at:

http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/Oradea/oradea368.html

If that doesn't work, go to the Jewishgen main page, scroll down to Projects
and Activities, Yiskor Books, Read Translations, Oradea.

Regards to everyone and only the best in the New Year,

Susan Geroe

"I am astonished at the service you offer. It is quite extraordinary that
you can scan such a sheet on to a web site, and then receive so quickly so
many friendly, positive responses >from people genuinely putting themselves
out, offering their knowledge, and trying to help. ,,, I am delighted and
astonished at the friendship and courtesy and sharing of information."

The Belarus SIG has had some success with the NY public library with these
sources.

It would be worthwhile to find out if they have these records on microfilm.
If not, they might be pursuaded to purchase them were the case made that
there was significant interest...
I haven't been following this thread much, but if someone can tell me what
we're looking for here, I would gladly swing by the NY Pub Library and see
what they have. I work 8 blocks >from there...

Jorden Salata Graham

I am researching Jankel SALATA (born 1884) son of Jacob SALATA >from Kiev and
also Meier GOLDMAN and his children, Meta, Soloman, Rochel, Lilly, Annie and
Alf.

Jankel SALATA came >from Kiev to London in 1905 and married Meta GOLDMAN in
1909. The remainder of the GOLDMAN family went to Liverpool. Jankel SALATA's
brother Boris may have gone to New York using the name ZOLOTAR.

I have no stetl for the SALATA's, only Kiev.

The GOLDMAN's may have come originally >from a stetl called
Gonyans,Bialystok,Grodno but I cannot find any reference to a place called
Gonyans anywhere.

Can anyone help with any leads for these family or place names please

Family Names FLAKS and MILMAN #ukraine

Anthony Salata <a.salata@...>

I am also researching my wife's family.

Firstly I am looking for a stetl called Radeville near Zhitomir.
I cannot find anything like except Radomysl. Is that likely to be the same
place?

I am looking for David FLAKS (Flax) , son of Isaac FLAKS who came to London
from Radesville ( or Radomysl) and married Fanny Miriam MILMAN in 1915.
Fanny Miriam MILMAN was born 10th October 1891in Dubno

Do any of these names strike a chord with anyone?

Joanna Fletcher, jfletcher@jewishgen.org, whose services will make
your trip pleasant and productive.

Translation Help-Viewmate #hungary

HWiner@...

I need some translations help! The picture postcards are possiblily my
grandfathers siblings that he never met and most likely died in the Holocaust.
They may be written in Hungarian or German.

VM302/303 picture side of postcards are women, possibly my grandfather's
sisters
VM304 is Rudolph (Rudi) BERGSMAN in a uniform, any help with information
about the uniform would be appreciated.
VM305 is the text on the back of the Rudolph photo, I think it's written in
German
