Lithuanian Jewry Films
#lithuania
Hkdcfd@...
After downloading the file "Locality Index to Lithuanian Vital Records
Currently available at the Family History Library" I went to the local FHC to order several. I was told these film numbers were not correct. I then went to their web site and searched for a film of Srednik #2187652/2. The following film came up: Registros parroquiales, 1780-1930. Iglesia Catolica. Nuestra Senora de la Cadelaria (Villa de Leales, Tecuman. Is this really the film that Srednik data is on or am I missing something? Similar things happened when searching for other film numbers. Any ideas would be appreciated. thanks Herbert Danziger hkdcfd@aol.com Researching Names: DANZIGER, DANCYGIER (Ciechanow Poland, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Mobile, Mississippi, Arkansas) FRIEDMAN (Philadelphia, PA and Mississippi) MOSZYNSKY, MACHINSKY, MOSHINSKY (Zuromin Poland, Mississippi, New York) JACOBSON, YAKUBSON (Lithuania, Philadelphia, Cincinatti, Mississippi) WOOLBERT, WOLPERT (Kedainiai, Kovno Gub, Philadelphia, Cincinatti, Mississippi) ROSEN (Kovno Gub.) CYNAMON (Ciechanow Poland) BIEZUNER (Ciechanow Poland) ROZENBAUM (Ciechanow Poland) KAHANE (Ciechanow Poland) PETERMAN (Ciechanow Poland) ELIASZNOW, ELIEZERNOW (Ciechanow Poland)

I am sure that I speak for many people here when I say
that we'd also appreciate people sharing information on "Bricha" (i.e. in a public domain). It's something I have not heard of & would certainly like to learn. Roman Vilner ---------------------- Forwarded Message: --------------------- From: Francine Schwartz <pinsk2@yahoo.com> To: "Belarus SIG" <belarus@lyris.jewishgen.org> Subject: Bricha Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 16:04:49 -0800 (PST) I recently posted a message regarding Bricha and judging by some answers I received I thhink it was not understood. Bricha was not a ship - it was a secret organization constructed in the late months of WW II to help repatriate Russian Jews to Palestine. It was a clandestine organization and involved carrying documents and money to save the Jews who were in Siberia and get them out to Palestine. The were two points of origin one of the cities was Pinsk. If anyone has information, especially those who reside in Israel, I would greatly appreciate feedback to my private e-mail - pinsk2@yahoo.com Thank you. Francine M. Schwartz New York

Prof. Dobronski
#belarus
Hello all
Some time ago I wrote to the secretary (in Israel) of the Grodno Landsmanshaft regarding information about my late mother's family. He suggested I contact a Professor Dobronski (who he described as a righteous gentile) to get further information. I understand this man lives in Grodno/Poland/in the vicinity. I did not get any further replies >from the Grodno Landsmanshaft secretary so I am now turning to the knowledge of the Belarus SIG to see if this man is known. Eleanor Platt Q.C. <kbx62@...>

The first step must surely be to find out when Christmas fell in the Julian calendar. Dont assume it was 25 December. It may br I just dont know. Then when you have a date there is a programme of Jewish calendar many of us have, including me! that changes a month >from Julian/Gregorian /Hebrew. So if you get the actul date you want then we can help. Eleanor Lind London UK
