Consider the terrain where jews were buried thousands of years ago.
I have been to the very far north where I have seen graves dug in very shallow permafrost. You can see that some of the graves were dug up by animals. So a pile of rocks placed on a shallow grave in sandy or loose earth to prevent animals >from getting to the bodies buried only in a sheet is one reason to consider the symbolic placing of a stone. Name Changes
#general
ctf-vif@...
I would like to thank everyone who answered my request for information
about schools for the deaf in NY, USA. My next question has to do with recording information. Normally, I would enter a woman's name as first name, middle name (if applicable), maiden name. What is the correct procedure for recording a given name (first and middle names) when the name has been legally changed? Which name do you use for the "official" record and which just gets noted? Andy,
When I visited the area a few years ago, the mid-1800 Jewish Ciechanow records were located not in Plock but in Mlawa. I got copies of some there, despite the antagonism of the head archivist. Have they been relocated recently? I understand that all of those records have been photographed by the Mormons. If they haven't, I'll add Mlawa and/or Plock to the genealogical research tour that I'm organizing to Poland this summer. ================================ A Jendrzejewski wrote: In response to Amy's post: ==============================-- Allan E.
