Hi Hadassah,

I would be interested in helping with some of the 1851 data entry. I have
Excel and work on PCs. As per previous e-mail, I'm interested in the
Shalovich (Szalowicz, Szulewicz, etc.) family. Here's my address:

Steve Rosenberg
Or Yehuda 60408
Israel

Meanwhile, still didn't receive the Zakroczym indices.

Thanks Hadassah.

Steve Rosenberg.

couple of days later and 6 months would have been the end of October.

When Stanley Diamond, the JRI-Poland coordinator, met with the Director,
Ryszard Wojtkowski, at the Warszawa PSA in October, they said they would be
filling their orders within the next two weeks. I suggest that you write
again to the address which you originally placed the order and described
the situation. You can write in English.

In another note, I am told that our Ronald Lauder Foundation
Representative, who has been personally indexing the Post LDS, Warszawa
metrical books for us is, back at the archives, scribing away. Hopefully
we will get some more material very soon.

Hadassah,
I have Excel 97 for the PC and use it regularly. I do not have an
abundance of time, as I work full time, but I can take some time to help. I
am researcher 1914.
I also want to ask the group for some advice. I sent a letter to Warsaw
requesting 10 Perlstadt documents, of which 7 were in the Warsaw archives, 2
were in the Plonsk archives and one came >from Lodz. I received the 2 Plonsk
documents and the Lodz documents fairly quickly, but have not received the
Warsaw documents at all. My letter was dated April 23, and probably sent a
couple of days later and 6 months would have been the end of October.
I had ordered documents once before and all but one came within a few
weeks of receiving my receipt. Is it possible that they are waiting for the
documents that were sent directly?
I do not speak Polish, I only filled in the form letter.

Thanks for your offer to help. Just a few questions...

Do you use Windows or Mac?
Do you have Excel on your computer and are you familiar with using it?
How much can I send you at one time?
What surnames are you researching >from Warsaw?

If all seems compatible then please give me your snail mail
address and I will send you the data and instructions.

Once again the Douglas E. Goldman Jewish Genealogy Center (DOROT) has
provided the Warsaw Shtetl CO-OP with extract pages >from the LDS

from 1836, 1840-43 and 1851. Miriam Segali, the volunteer at Dorot, has

Re: New York City Directories, Prep Dates? #general

Avrohom Krauss <avkrauss@...>

from my experience, typically someone "straight off the boat" did not make
it into the City Directory. It could take years before his name appears.
This doesn't mean that that was always the case. I would not rule out the
possibility of this man's arrival being in 1896 or 1897. In that case, if
the July 1897 birthdate of his son is correct (an assumption that may need
to be questioned), your grandfather may have left for the US, while leaving
a pregnant wife behind in Europe.

help me pin down his arrival date better, as so far I haven't found him
