Although I am not a SPECTOR, I do have a Stavische connection that might be of interest. There was a family of SPECTORS in Stavische that is indirectly related to my KORSUNSKY or KARSUNSKY family. I do know that one scion of the family went to London around the same time as my grandfather, Sholom KORSUNSKY. His name was Lazar SPSECTOR. He and his father were Rabbis. In fact, my GGfather,Velvel KORSUNSKY, ordained Lazars father, who went on to officiate at the Chuppa of Velvel's daughter! Just in case she did not see your posting, I am forwarding it on to Ida Schwartz, who is actively researching the SPECTORS of Stavische. Other families linked to my KORSUNSKY's are BERNSTEIN, MAZUR, LIDJINSKY, LOYEV. Please let me know if Ida could help you. As Yelisavetograd has been of much interest recently, I thought I would see
if anyone has connections to the family BREZHNEV, or BREZHENEV, who came from thereabouts. First names include Channa, Chrayne, YItzhak, Leah (myMGM), Sima, Yanni (diminutive, I think). Yanni was known to have returned to the area after a brief stint in London, where most of the family went in 1906. Possibly he went to Berdichev, but I'm not sure. Susan M. Rogers <smrogers@...>
Re this question: The create-tree option at MyFamily.com allows for the
site administrator -- in this case Ms. Goldsmith presumably -- to give "permissions" to the family members wanting to add information. In other words, the tree option at MyFamily.com has "input" screens available to those with permission. In lecturing on this capability, I was questioned as to: what if somebody wants to steal your tree? or put up wrong information? Well, notification to the site administrator of new input enables the administrator to download anything objectionable and replace it with the previous version >from the site administrator's hard drive. Nobody can steal anything because everybody with access has express permission that can always be withdrawn. It's an exciting tool -- once one has specified "user preferences" and turned off all annoying options, such as "Weekly travel newsletter?" etc. [http://www.myfamily.com] Family Tree Maker software is even easier to use but lacks the advantages of being built into the family web page. Anyone adding data could E-mail it to the family member in charge. It could be merged with the main file and uploaded to the family site on FamilyTreeMaker. In an effort to become more competitive with MyFamily.com, FamilyTreeMaker has added enormous power to its user web pages. Many trees are allowed per user, as well as multiple reports, photos, and a section for favorite links. Ms. Goldsmith -- and anyone else -- is welcome to take a look: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/r/o/g/Susan-M-Rogers-NY/index.html Susan M. Dear Moderator,
It would be of interest to many Jewishgenners, I think, to know of software that cousins working in different locations on a family tree could share. You had asked that responses be private. Would you reconsider? Perhaps there are reasons for your response that I am not aware of, being a relatively new Jewishgenner. Thank you. Sincerely, Susan M.
