I believe you mean Hajdubo"szo"rme'ny, near to Debrecen as well as to Hajduszoboszlo, which is a well known thermal bath. In our survivor's group
there is at least one twin boy (now 68 years old) >from Hajduboszormeny.

am trying to relocate a "report" that I lost recently. It was a "paper"
written by someone explaining the districts in Budapest and listing all of
the BMD films held by the Mormon Church in their Family History Center. It
contained the film numbers.
I would appreciate anyone who can figure out what I am asking for to let me
know where and how I can get another copy of this most useful
"report/paper".

ANNOUNCING - ViewMate #hungary

Louis Schonfeld <Lmagyar@...>

Advance your research with ViewMate!

Do you have a need for analysis or translations of book titles, letters
or gravestone photos? Do you have questions about old family photos,
maps or book pages? ViewMate is JewishGen's newest tool, designed to
supplement the written query, and help you to solve graphic riddles.
Here is an example of how it works. Follow along now with Jack, our
demonstrator.

Jack finds an unidentified family photo with an inscription on the back,
written in what appears to be Hebrew script.

He scans it on his home PC system, creating a graphic file.

Then he goes to the ViewMate (VM) website. Using the easy upload feature,
he uploads his graphic file to VM. Jack soon receives an e-mail
confirmation with a file number.

He then posts a notice to the JewishGen Discussion Group (or SIG of his
choice) stating that he has uploaded a photo to VM. He requests someone
knowledgeable in Hebrew to visit the VM website, view his graphic
(File No. X) and translate it for him.

An eager reader will be quick to provide feedback. Eager reader responds
with translation. Riddle solved. Jack adds new info to his tree.

Its as easy as 1-2-3.
1- Scan on your home PC system.
2- Upload to ViewMate.
3- Request feedback.

You are invited to visit us today to make use of this newest JewishGen
tool. The site has FAQ and full instructions.

Formatting Yizkor Book Translations #yizkorbooks

Lance Ackerfeld <lance@...>

Dear Ron,

I hope I can be of assistance in regards the questions you raised about the
submission of Yizkor Book translations.

Line spacing. Not all the html programs that we work with recognize
differences in line spacing. My suggestion is that if you would like a
particular line spacing, please send a note when you send the material to
Joyce and we will direct the person who prepares the html, in accordance.

Page numbering. I assume you are talking about the original page numbers
from the text. The best way to ensure that the page numbers are included, is
to put them in as part of the text in their appropriate locations. I suggest
using something like [Page 1]. The Word-type page numbers will not be
recognized by the html programs.

Hope this helps. If you have further questions in regards the format of the
submitted material, please let us know.

All the best,
Lance.

When preparing a Yizkor Book translation for uploading, what do we do
about
preserving actual line spacing on a page and page numbers? I can easily
re-create the line spacing and actual page numbers by formatting in
Microsoft Word, but, is this acceptable for uploading to the Web?

Re: Berdichev book #belarus

Gene Starn <genes17@...>

Hi, Steve ....

I received the manuscript and have made a couple of copies and turned them
out to first see if your names (and mine) are included. I've asked the
interpreters to make some notes as to what is mentioned about the names.
If worthwhile, I'll see how much they want to translate the entire
manuscript and I'll index it in case there are other Berdichevers who can
use it.

I'll keep you informed.

A long shot, but perchance do you happen to know Sid Davis? Sid was
once V.P. of NBC News, Washington, and then program director of the
Voice of America. He's now retired, but still lives in Bethesda. He and
I go back a few years, both having worked together in TV news.

The manuscript came in an AIPAC envelope, so I'm assuming you're
attached to that organization. They're doing great work because of the
criticism they receive >from the press.

She can ferrett out anything!
