Sapotskin records #belarus

bernerfolk

I have not been able to find any vital records online for the town of Sapotskin,
only a few >from fairly distant cities which include a person >from Sabotskin.
Miriam Weiner/RTR doesn't show any vitals either but I want to be sure I'm not
missing something before giving up...for the time being.

Mazarambroz, Spain #sephardic

Carol Rombro Rider wrote: Can anyone confirm that the small town of
Mazarambroz, Spain once had a Jewish population? This town is a little
southwest of Toledo, Spain.

I can find no reference to a Jewish population in the chartered town
(really never more than a village and with a population today of circa
1300 adults). That's not surprising as it was the private property of
the Catholic Brotherhood of San Martin de Montilla - so effectively an
Christian ecclesiastical town. It is possible that there was a Jewish
population in the town when it was part of the Caliphate of Cardoba,
prior to its reconquest in the late 11th century, but I can find no
indication of that either.

The only reference to the town with any Jewish resonance is to
Mazarambroz's most 'illustrious' son, Marcos Garcia de Mora (Marquillos
de Mazarambroz); a lawyer, who was a key figure in the persecution of
the Jewish Conversos of Toledo. In 1449 he published his purity of
blood 'Memorial' (legal statement), which sought to prove that New
Christians (Conversos) had been instrumental in the rebellion against
the king of that year and because of impure blood were historically
condemned and should never hold public office.

Dear Sig members
I would like to inform you that my kehilalinks webpage for Nis Serbia

According to Yad Vashem's Pinkas Hakehilot, Nis was a typical,
homogeneous Sephardic community of Jews who were expelled >from the
Iberian Peninsula and later, in the seventeenth century, migrated to
