Kippenheim families #general

M Schejtman <mario_m@...>

In searching for my own family I came across at Leo Baeck Institut, 4
volumes of (bear with me here...)
"Handbuch der Judischen gemeindevewaltung und Wolfahrtspfelge" (I hope
there are not too many spelling mistakes.).
In them are listed according to town name amounts of jews in each, the
heads of the community, chevre kadisha, teachers, taxes and more.

I looked at Kippenheim only.

In the volume >from 1911, I found:
R. DURLACHER,
S. AUERBACHER
as heads of the community and Leopold WEIL as head of chevre kadisha.

In 1913, Shalom WEIL was added as head, and Fritz WEIL took over chevre
kadisha.

The next volume was 1924/25. The heads were: Max AUERBACHER, Shalom
WEIL, Salomon AUERBACHER and Jacob DURLACHER. The head of the choir was
J. DURLACHER.

The last volume they had there was >from 1932/33
the heads were: Herman WERTHEIMER, Richard WERTHEIMER and Jakob
AUERBACHER.
The head of chevre kadisha was Fritz WEIL, and the head of the choir was
J. DURLACHER.

I could not find the connection to my family even though I am 100% sure
that Jakob Durlacher is family, but I have no idea how he connects. I
hope this helps someone...

Dear H-siggers;

I am writing a book on the life of my mother and grandmother. My grandparents
name was Adolf and Bertha Preisler. They lived in Sziglaysholyo between
1919-1942 or 45. But my mother and grandmother moved to Nagyvarad in 1930.
My grandmother was also a Kashrut supervisor at a Jewish school in Krossna.
My parents name was Abraham Zeev (Wolf - Willi) and Rosalia Apter. They lived
in Arad >from 1939-50.

If anybody knows anything about them, the Jewish communities in these towns,
the Polish refugees that streamed through it and ended on the Struma, etc. do
contact me directly. I would be ever so grateful.

Best,

Judith. My emails are :jklinghoff@aol. com klinghof@...

Jerry Morse <Jerry_Morse@...>

A genealogist living in Zhitomir, Ukraine whom I hired appears to have
found my ggf, Mendel Chernomorsky, listed in 1858 officials records for
Novograd-Volynsk. In his report, the genealogist says that Mendel was a
"member of the third guild." Can anyone provide any additional information
on the "third guild" in this area at this time?

Argentine phone searches #general

IsraelP <p2o5rock@...>

The searches engines I have for the Argentine white pages all
insist that you do one state/province at a time. I realize that most
Jews are likely to be in "Federal Capital," but I'd still like to find
something that will search all of them at once - especially as there
are quite a few ways to spell some surnames.

Failing that, what other areas are most likely to have Jews?

Searching: Yacov BORNSTEIN, b. Wloslavick (Pol.), end 1900s #general

Frieda Libaw <fbl2@...>

Searching for ancestors of Yakov BORNSTEIN who was married to Rosa
LICHTENSTEIN and who lived in Wloslavick, Poland toward the end of the
19th and beginning of the 20th century. He was a schochet and mohel.
Any information on this family and on the following would be gratefully
received.

Am also searching for ancestors of Yoel-Wolf GOLDSTEIN and his wife,
Rifka LACHS (or LAX) who lived in Lipno, Poland, He was a member of a
Chassidic group and the owner of two enterprises; one that manufactured
cotton interlining for winter garments and the other that dealt with
crystal and porcelain ware. Rifka's father was Moishe Lachs, who died
ca. 1895 and her mother was Gitl who died ca. 1879. Both of these men
were highly respected members of the community and Moishe served as its
representative in dealing with the Czarist government.

I may be contacted at fbl2@... In lieu of direct information
any suggestions on how to conduct my search would be more then
welcome.Thanks in advance.
