I am trying to trace a Rabbi Hermann (Yitchak Tzvi ben Moshe Yehuda)
Lebovics who, during the 1920's and 30's, was the Oberrrabiner of
Cop,CZ (formerly Csap, Hungary now UKR).

Rabbi Yithak Tzvi ben Yehuda Moshe Lebovich was born at 1865.He is a
student
of "Arugat Habosem" ( Rabbi Moshe Grunwald >from Hust).
His first father in law - Rabbi Yeshaiah Ehrnfeld >from Shuran.
His second father in law - Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich >from Shamloi.
His third father in law - Rabbi Shlomo Tzvi Hollander >from Mozshai.
He was first Rabbi of Kaweshed ( ?) and the Rabbi of Chop for 31 years.
Was dead in the holcaust 1944.
Wrote "Shulchan Haezer" - printed in Deesh ( part I) 1929.
Part 2 printed in Beregsas 1932.
All the info >from "Chachmei Hungaria" of Y.Y. Cohen.

No doubt about the fact that his second father in law was considered as
"Gadol Hador"
in Hungary in his period.

Re: R. Lebovitz of Csap #hungary

Yitzchak Zvi Lebovitz was rabbi of NagyKevesd in 1902 and in 1912 became rabbi
of Csap. His book SHuchan Ha'Ezer is a minor classic, and is still used as an
anthology on marriage related questions, and is in print. I think the
introduction etc. may yield some biographical information. His son was married
to the daughter of Asher ANshel Katz of Serdahely (I have spelled that wrongly
but cannot remember the correct spelling), I believe that they all were killed
in the Holocaust, but think that her brothers survived and one of them is a
rabbi in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Otsar Harabonim and Shem Hagedolim Me'Eretz
Hagar will shed more light.

Searching: Morritz JARRY (CHARI) in Brooklyn, 1920-25 #general

Hi,

I am looking for the descendants of Morritz JARRY (or CHARRY, or CHARI,
or JARI) on behalf of my aunt. As far as she knows, Morritz JARRY was
her uncle and came to Brooklyn between 1920-1925 approx.

If there is any of his sons or grandsons, and wants to resume contact
with the SouthAmerican branch of the family, my aunt Ana (nee CHARI)
PLOTNIK will be glad.

Thanks.

Hi all,
Thank you to Louis Schonfeld, again, who put me in touch with a woman in NY
who emigrated to the STates after the war >from the town of Teglas. It turned
out she is my grandmother's cousin's daughter (her grandmother and my great-
grandfather were siblings)--too complicated. Her name and those of her
siblings appeared on a Labor Battalion list of deportees I had and we thought
all had perished. This is a big family coming >from the Rosenfelds (my side)
and the Paneths. Thank you Louis. She even told me stories about my great-
grandfather, the assistant to the "graf".

Daniel Kazez <dkazez@...>

In order to see the sights and sounds of Eastern Europe and to check on
record sources and archives, I will be visiting Hungary, Poland and
several other countries. Because I am a musician, I will make this into
a concert tour, with performances of Jewish-inspired classical music in
Budapest, Bucharest, Sofia, Prague, Lodz, and Warsaw. Most of my
concert venues are set, but I am blank on Hungary. Does anyone know of
places I can contact in Budapest, to set up concerts (synagogues, etc.)?
