This is not correct. If a person was in the process of becoming
a citizen, i.e. had taken out their Declaration of Intention
("first papers") but had not yet completed the Petition for
Naturalization ("final papers"), then their citizenship status
on the census was listed as "Pa".

from the JewishGen FAQ ("Frequently Asked Questions") document,
<http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/faq.html>, Section #12:

The 1900 thru 1920 Censuses contain citizenship status
for all foreign-born:

"Na" = Naturalized citizen
"Pa" = First papers filed
"Al" = Alien

The column is left blank for native-born, who are all
automatically U.S. citizens.

...The doomed but heroic uprising against the Nazis in the Warsaw Ghettos
history. Is there any record of the individuals who participated in it
or who played a leading part in the uprising?>

There was a list of 221 fighters in AYL (Hairgun Hayehudi Halokhem)
who died fighting in the Ghetto Warsaw uprising, sent by the
National Jewish Committee to London in November 1943. 5 among them
were discovered later to survive (Sara Erlichman, Jakob Putermilch,
Pnina Papier, Chaim Rozenthal and Sara Shlubowska).
The list includes also fighters in other places where they were
sent by AYL to resist the Nazis (like Bendin, Bialystok and more).
The list, with pictures and biographies appeared in a book in Hebrew "Destruction
and Rising, the epic of the Jews in Warsaw", edited by Meilech Neustadt, Palestine
1946. This is but one source out of many.

In addition, please note there is a giant project started on the
web, to put the fighters' biographies and pictures, memorial to about 1000
fighters and Jewish heroes during WWII. The project is
done by the Ghetto Fighters' House Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Heritage
Museum, (Beit Lochamei Hagetaot) and part of it is already available
on-Line! See http://www.gfh.org.il/english/
Click the "Parisans database" button on the left side, to access the data.

When the Passover Holiday approaches, the festival of Jewish liberty, from
exile to freedom, >from slavery to freedom, >from Egypt to Isreal...
we shall remember those fighters who kept the dignity
of the Jewish people in those dark times; we shall remember those who sacrificed
their young life and fought for freedom against all odds, in our very own days.
