There is a book written in Yiddish called Yehudot Latvia, about Bauska, (Iyr

At the entrance to the Chatyn site is a ten foot statue of the village blacksmith, pieta-like holding his dieing son in his arms. The blacksmith had been in a neighboring village to do some work when all other residents were forced into a barn which was, then, set on fire. Standard practice by the German soldiers in such situations. When the blacksmith returned, all his friends and neighbors were dead in the smoldering ashes of the barn. He found his son who was still alive, but barely. The child died later in his arms. After the end of the War, the village houses were located, their outlines traced, and a single chimney was raised at the former site of each house. There is a tiny electronic bell in each chimney which, now, chime every two minutes, one at a time. It is an eerie place.
