MINCER & CYTRYN Families of Tomaszow Lubelski #general

sborsook <sborsook@...>

I am looking for any information relating to the Shalom Mincer and
Cytryn (or Cytron or Sitreen) families who lived in Tomaszow Lubelski,
Poland.

I believe the descendants of Shalom Mincer went to Israel after WW 2
It is known that Wolf Mincer died in Haifa in circa 1996 and his wife
Zipora (nee Zidal) died in Haifa in 1968.

I understand that the children of Wolf Mincer were

Toba Mincer married to Nathan Grenner
Hana or Chana Mincer married to ? Ashkenazi
Dora Mincer.

I understand that Rachel Mincer ( Wolf Mincer's sister) was married to
Abram Cytryn and their children were:

Hersh Cytryn
Sara Cytryn
Chana Cytryn
Shalom Cytryn

Pearl Cytryn could be the daughter of either Hersh or Shalom?

I understand that the descendants of the Cytryn family might be living
in Williamsburg New York and may have been in contact with Pearl Shapiro
(nee Mincer) and or Jack Mincer who were living in South Africa at the
time of their deaths.

Sheila Borsook (nee Mincer)

Would someone be willing to make a phone call to a relative in Netanya? I
just want someone to make contact so that I will receive an answer to my
family tree questions. I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks for your assistance

Why bother everyone with questions that are easily answered by
other means?
This point is not without merit. Many of the questions posted on JewishGen can
indeed be easily answered by other means, but sometimes one can obtain odd
bits of information >from individuals that aren't necessarily in the books, and
sometimes those odd bits of info. will lead one to probe further, and in turn
learn useful things that one didn't set out to find out about in the first
place! Sometimes a personal reply as opposed to an answer in a book, etc.,
will contain some comment about personal experience, perhaps even personal
contact with the individual one is enquiring about.

The invention of the printing press was a wonderful development in human
history, but we must also continue to value oral history (in which category I
would include JewishGen postings). Much can be gleaned >from speaking with
people that cannot be found in the printed word.

Genealogical research often takes a lot of detective work, and the more places
one looks for answers, the better.

My great-grandfather's name was Yudovin, although the name was changed to
Smith, when they lived in England. Some distant cousin in California has
compiled a family tree. The Yudovins were >from Beshincovich and Vitebsk.
Beshincovich apparently is 40 miles >from Vitebsk. Do you have any info. re.
Mollie. My great-grandfather Louis Smith (Youdovin) had many siblings. The
Smiths & :Youdovins lived in Buffalo, N.Y. and Cleveland, Ohio.

Wyatt EARP and MARCUS #general

Dear People,

Every Sunday I breeze through the NY TImes' Travel Section, to amuse
myself with "armchair" trips, trips which in reality I have no desire or
money to take. Today I was astonished to read a letter to the editor of that
section, >from a Herbert Rosen. He wrote that Wyatt Earp is buried in the
"Hills of Eternity Memorial Park" which is a Jewish cemetary in Colma,
California.

Mr. Rosen explained that Earp's second wife, Josephine (Sadie) MARCUS, a
stage actress, was a member of a German-Jewish family. She and Earp met in
Tombstone, Arizone and she married him in 1888. After her husband was
cremated, Josephine put his ashes in the MARCUS family plot, and fifteen years
later, she was buried next to him.

There is no known Amlin, but there are four Amelin located in Poland,
all in the territory previously known as Russian Poland.
Amelin(s) can be found in Biala Podlaska, Lublin, Ostroleka, amnd
Piotrkow Trybunalski regions of Poland.

Just because there four shtetls with same name, do not give up your
search. Try to establish where the other relatives came from. Jews and
Gentiles alike >from the small shtetlakh did marry people >from the
neighbouring places, perhaps just few miles away. Check for any traces
of correspondence or names where uncles or aunts came >from - all pieces
of information will allow to establish names of the other bigger or
smaller shtetls next to your Amelin.

If a person went to live in Johannesburg, South Africa around 1890, what

The Jewish community is certainly in decline in Gloversville, you might want
to read Hebert Engel's book "Shtetl in the Adirondacks, The Story of
Gloversville and it's Jews"
