On 2/3 I said:

if you submit your data to JewishGen, Inc. to be placed on the web,
or submit it to one of the other two places and authorize it to be
given to JewishGen, Inc. then it will most likely be visible to the
web spiders.
Upon further reflection, I think that it is UNLIKELY that the data on
JewishGen, Inc. will be available to web spiders. The reason for this is
that the JewishGen, Inc. data itself does not reside statically on web
(like other genealogical display systems). Only the results of specific
querys are displayed.

Sara YOFFE(JAFFE) nee KLOR From Chicago #general

Sheldon Clare <clare+@...>

I am looking for descendents of Sarah YOFFE(JAFFE) nee Klor. She came
from Lithuania(Anixt perhaps) and lived in the Chicago area. She may
have had two sons. All of her siblings emigrated to Cordoba, Argentina
in the 1920's.
Sarah was a first cousin of my father< Abraham (KLOR) CLARE.

Don't Forget Brooklyn in family searches!! #general

David Goldman <davic@...>

I just wanted to comment to everyone that of all places in North America,
don't forget to do detailed searches in BROOKLYN for the family names you
are searching for via directory assistance, internet searches, etc.
Brooklyn has the highest concentration of Jews of any town around! So many
of the names being searched are more likely than not found in the Brooklyn
White Pages. Perhaps Bell Atlantic will one day put it on the net too!

carol zsolnay <CZSOLNAY@...>

Does anyone recall the following family names in Chicago--cousins of each
other: MEISTER, HABER and HANAUER? There were two sisters/cousins who
would be in their 90s and 80s named Jenny MEISTER and Lorraine MEISTER.
Their mother was a HABER.

Thanks for help with this long shot.

Sincerely,

Carol Adler Zsolnay at czsolnay@msn.com

Jerry, there are three different versions of the FTJP. I am in charge of
the IAJGS version of the FTJP on CD. There is of course, no way that a web
spider can access this data (I have even taken precautions to prevent "data
mining" >from purchasing a CD). I expect that the data at Beth Hatefusoth

If you put your information on the web, then you are making it available to
the widest possible (and sometimes nefarious) audience. If you are worried
about this sort of thing (or some of your family members are), then perhaps
you should not put your data on the web, and consider other forms of
distribution. But you now have a choice!

Please accept my pledge of $100 for the Courland project. I trust those
who have researched the options of accessing this material will make
informed decisions on which is the most appropriate for our group to
manage. Just let me know where to send the check and how I might help
after the purchase.
