Book in Hebrew: Bat-Ami Yogev Cherzlia
#general
Cheryl Hoover <crhoover@...>
I just received a picture of my great great grandmother >from the book
above. This book was published in Israel and written in Hebrew. The person that sent me this picture said the title translates to They Were Ordinary People. My question is this: does anyone know if this book is available in either Hebrew or English? I would prefer the English version if it is available. I know this may be a long shot as this is suppose to be an old book, however, I am hoping. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Cheryl Hoover

What's in a name...

Anita Citron <anitac1@...>
And people think this is easy? That there is a simple name chart? HAAs Shelly said...and not just names. My father hated his oldest brother. When he filled in my gm's application of naturalization, he left Harry off entirely. If I hadn't had know he had an older brother, I might have thought there were only four in the family. This also makes you wonder what else he did? He shows my gps married 4/15/1889. Harry was born in 1889. Are the dates right? Did my grandmother make him leave Harry off because he was born out of wedlock? Who knows? The papers also say my gf (deceased by that point) had arrived here in 1893. The NYS Census in 1905 says he arrive in 1891. Sometimes I feel like I'm dealing with mercury. But ain't that half the frustrating fun? Oh, just to restore hope. I found had gathered unto me the data on every NADW/VORN/E/Y born in Ukraine in the world. Only 4 families, mine being one, one in Brazil, one other (which had only 4 members, 2 already gone). All other Nadwornys seem to be >from Poland. But I kept connecting the dots, and waiting for those cert, and the last where there were no living members. I kept searching and sending for certificates. AND I managed to incontroveribly match up two of them as having the same ggf/ggm (the one in Brazil and the 4 member one). The 2 survivors of the 4-member family thought they were the only ones in the world because their father told them that that is what their grandfather said. Might be what he believed but it was not the truth. So, if I managed to find success with my needle-in-a-haystack family, keep heart. Rebecca F. <beckles@...>
My cousin informs me that her grandparents are buried in the
Zentralfriedhof in Vienna. I'm not sure I have the correct address for the cemetery, so if anyone does have the correct one, could you please share it with me? Also, should I have my cousin translate into German for me, or will correspondance in English be adequate? Thanks in advance, Rebecca Fenning Los Angeles, CA

1910 US Census Index for Phila. at the Carnegie Lib. of Pittsburgh
#general
Matthew Meisel <mattmeisel@...>
To all Genners who live in Pittsburgh, PA, or who plan to do research
there: A while back I submitted a question about the 1910 US Census Index of Philadelphia, PA. Thanks to all who responded. I found the rolls of microfilm at my local library, the Carnegie of Pittsburgh. At the Carnegie, the rolls of microfilm of the index are in the first bank of microfilms in the microfilm room. If you have trouble finding them, ask the microfilm librarian to show you rolls 529 to 688. Some of the genealogy librarians at the Carnegie don't know the rolls exist. Matthew Meisel mattmeisel@pmail.net - my new address, the old one still works too http://jewish.genealogy.org
