A suitcase was found after 70 years with photographs, newspapers, postcards
and paintings hidden in an Amsterdam flat cupboard -The story of finding the
family covers three continents . The family that found the suitcase had
been renovating an apartment building and where the suitcase was hidden it
was not meant to be easily found.

The name Porges was one concentrated in Prague and Vienna and other
German-speaking areas of the world. The area in Amsterdam is where many
German-speaking Jews fled, when Hitler came to power, is Beethovenstraat,
and nearby streets,. The article is the story of a young women who was
determined to find the surviving family whose suitcase belonged. It took
them to Argentina, New Zealand and North America. A posting on Geni
helped find the family.
