Recently a book came out about the Kisvarda Jewish community. It was written by
a local librarian, Istvan Nezo. It is entitled: A kisvardai zsidosag tortenet. (History
of the Kisvarda Jewry) Nyiregyhaza 1998. Only a small number of the book was
printed. It is already out of print.

The book is in Hungarian. It contains the following chapters:

I. Immigration of Jews to the Carpathian basin
II. History of the Kisvarda Jews.
III. Religious life in Kisvarda.
IV. Religious buildings, institutions and places.
V. Kisvarda Jews in historical events, their social role, assimilation, integration,
and anti-semitism.
VI. Jewish organizations in Kisvarda.
VII. Education.
VIII. Role of Kisvarda Jewry in the economy.
IX. Kisvarda Jewry between 1938 and 1944.
X. Kisvarda Jewry after 1945.

It has many illustrations. It is a nice book.

I dont' have any interest in the book, this is merely a review for your ineterest!

great-great-grandmother's father is named as Vilmos on her death

waste of bandwidth. All you need do is either copy and paste

Church has filmed all this. They have indeed, but this is
totally misleading advice since there is *no access to this

well-intentioned advice about how to contact the Family History
Center in Salt Lake City is not going to help him a bit.

What Touvia needs is someone to say, "I'll do this for you at a
Family History Center I can reach if you will do thus and so
for me in Israel.

And to Touvia, there are thousands of microfilms on which the
passenger manifests appear, so to hope that someone has the one
you need is even greater than hoping to find a needle in an
entire hayfield. The basis of all that JewishGen is and does is
the concept of sharing. Surely there is some research that you
can do in Israel in exchange for research where people have
access to LDS films.

Generally the Mairies don't give any information for records older
than 100 years old. If by chance they send you the birth record, there
will be perhaps a mention of marriage but not of death.

These mentions began to be written end of 19th century for marriages,
1944 for deaths.

But surely you may ask and look for the birth record in an LDS library.
As for the death record : I have seen in the "Bottin Mondain" of 1919 :
CARO-DELVAILLE was living in the 16 th arrondissement. He probably died
there. So, you may ask for the death record to :

71 avenue Henri Martin , 75116 Paris

When you don't know the arrondissement , it is possible to find a

Hungarian cities and villages >from before the war. I am collecting postcards that
depict main streets and squares, with shops, most probably owned by Jews.
