ItinerantScribe@...
There is a book that lists, alphabetically, the names of all passengers who
arrived at the Port of New York in the non-indexed years of the late 19th century: 1847-June 1897. It was published by a group in Philadelphia. Can anyone please tell me the name of this directory? Please reply by private E-mail. Thank you. David Linden <ItinerantScribe@bigfoot.com>

Help: Family Relationships
#belarus
AZ61BROOK@...
Dear Belarus SIGers,
I am sending out a posting here that I already sent to the JEWISH GEN Digest. If some of you subscribe to the JewishGen Digest, excuse the repetition. There might be some out there who do not, and their help would be greatly appreciated. ========= Hello. I have a problem I want to throw out to you folks. My GGF, NATHAN CHEIFETZ was married twice, and no one knows the true names of either woman. The first wife died in Belarus. Her name might be SARA LEWBERG (this is on my Grandfather's marriage certificate as his Mother's name). On my Uncle's marriage cert., Mother's name is SARA PODEVIK. On my Aunt's marriage cert., Mother's name is SASHA / SARHA PUDEVEIK. The first wife was the mother of all the children. The second one, known only as MUMA, came to the US, with her new family. I have photos of her, but I don't know her name! I realize that some of the children could have put the Stepmother down as the "Mother," but it was known in the family that the Stepmother "MUMA" was not close with her stepchildren. Thanks in advance, Bonnie Miller SF, CA Searching: CHEIFETZ, KOREN, STRUMPF ============ Someone brought up the point that MUMA could be the sister of the first wife, that would make sense of the use of MUMA (Aunt). But we don't know which is which, so that would be something to look into later. Any other thoughts are eagerly awaited. Bonnie

I believe that your transliterations >from the subject Slutsk lists contain
some of my ancestral names. I cannot translate >from Russian, but I will arrange for it, if the lists contain information, other than surnames, in which I would have an interest. Please let me know what other types of information they contain, if any. Your help is appreciated. Marvin Cherrin
