STEINER
#general
Maya Hahn <mayah@...>
I am searching for my cousin, whose maiden name was Pelsa STEINER. She lived
in Paris in the early 1950's. I do not know if she's married, single, alive or dead. Her mother was probably a ROSENBAUM, most likely originally from Southern Poland. If anyone out there knows or has any information on Pesla, I surely would appreciate some help in locating her. Maya Hahn Atlanta, GA

Searching SCHWARTZ
#general
Arthur Blutstein <meandart@...>
I have hit a "brick wall" trying to locate the last of my MOED
g-grandfather's 8 children/families. Lena MOED (b.ca 1895 in Odessa) married-in NY- Joe SCHWARTZ & had 3 children: Paul, Irving & Hilda. They all may still be living-in their mid/ late 70's to early 80's. The sheer volume of "same" names on Social Security Death Index renders such an approach insurmountable & as I said they may not be on this list.. Lena died around 1960, probably on Long Island,NY All the appropriate NYC death records were of the wrong Lena. SCHWARTZ. Hilda is thought to have married a PERONE. No one in my "family" has been in touch with them since 1945!!! Any suggested research approaches appreciated. Art

Anthony J. Stern <ajstern@...>
Folks, I have had some clues that part of my wifes family went thru
Singapore in their travels, and at least one of them, possibly her great Grandfather Israel Judel Goldberg died there. Since this would probably in the 1930's maybe the Colonial Office in UK might be a place to start. Appreciate any ideas. Regards, Tony Stern Researching: STERN, Plock, SHINWELL, Sochaczew,UK, SA, GOLDBERG Palestine, India, Singapore, Indonesia, SHAPIRO Bialystok, CHRZAN Plock, Ciechanow, KONINGSWINTER-UK, Holland, HELDER - Holland , VISSER -Holland, Van der LAAN- Holland, WERWAL- Plock, GONSKA- Plock, FREEDMAN or SARDASKI - Poland, UK

Judith Marcus <jhmarcus@...>
My husband and I visited Barbados several years ago and toured the
synagogue, which was then undergoing restoration. We photographed a number of the old tombstones. The inscriptions dated >from as early as 1695, but many were still legible. They were often in Hebrew, Portuguese, and English. If any of the names listed below are of interest to anyone in the group, e-mail me privately and I'll send you a copy of the photo. David Raphael de MERCADO, 1685 Benjamin MOFSIAH, 1782 David BURGOSS, 1798 (not sure of last number) David VALVERDE, 1782 M. Lewis DIAZ (according to the English, but Joseph Jessuron MENDE according to the Portuguese), 1699 Researching SIEGEL and SHAPIRO >from Anyksciai; PELOVITZ >from Kupiskis; MARCUS >from Latvia?
