Searching: SRAGOVICH/FAITELEVICH/FYTELSON from Belarus
#general
anthony_lewis@...
In my researches of my SCHLEIFSTEIN (SHLIFSHTEIN) family from
Belarus (Nesvizh and other areas of Minsk and Wilna goberniyee), I find a SRAGOVICH family living in the same domicile with my family for quite some time. Feldblyum's book on Jewish names indicates that Faivel or Faitel were kinnuim of Shrago, so it is possible that the FAITELEVICHs who married into my SHLIFSHTEINs might be closely related to (or the same family as) the SRAGOVICHs. Please contact me if any of these names might be related to you. Thanks, Tony Lewis Natick, Massachusetts

Jewish Records Indexing - Poland
The Board of Jewish Records Indexing - Poland is pleased to announce
several developments that will make it even easier for you to continue to provide the financial support that -- along with the work of many of you in Shtetl CO-OPs -- has marked an exciting year for the growth of our organization. First, Jewish Records Indexing-Poland, Inc. has been granted tax-exempt status as a 501 (c)(3) organization. Effective immediately, contributions by U.S. citizens are now tax deductible in the U.S. Second, to help facilitate contributions, JRI-Poland is also pleased to advise that Visa credit card facilities are now available. We are particulary pleased to offer this convenience to JRI-Poland supporters from around the world who do not have ready access to U.S. Dollaraccounts or facilities. As we draw close to Rosh Hashana and are reminded to look back on the past year, many of us can look back on our last year of research with great satisfaction. If searches on JRI-Poland's database have played a role in the research successes you have had, this is a good time to make a financial contribution to help us get more records into our databases and bring about more successes for you and hundreds of other researchers. As we continue to add Shtetl CO-Ops and to index more records under the PSA Project, your contribution will help JRI-Poland's database grow. Make your contribution today! Of course, you may still mail a check. But if you choose to use your Visa card, here's how: 1. When I came of age, I noticed that the name and addressVoters lists are still posted at the entrance, no identification is required to prove you are who you say you are, nor do you have to sign anything that says you have voted. A volunteer sits at a table and just checks off that you've voted. I've questioned this policy several times and asked how they know who I say I am. The response is "we trust you". I also find it an invasion of privacy to have the list of voters public in that way. Not that I care if people know I'm a registered voter, but because it lets everyone know whether or not their neighbors are. That's nobody's business. Personally, I now use the absentee ballot to vote. Mary Floy Katzman Framingham, Massachusetts

Additional Wyszkow indices now on-line.
#poland
There has been a slip up... And it's my fault!
When the first group of indices >from the new Jewish Records Indexing - Poland / Polish State Archives project were released and added to the JRI-Poland database just prior to the announcement at the Los Angeles Summer Seminar, some Wyszkow data slipped between the cracks. This has now been corrected and the indices for an additional 353 birth records and 104 marriage records for the Wyszkow for the years 1894 to 1896 are now on-line. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause researchers who have already placed orders with the Polish State Archives for photocopies of Wyszkow vital records. Thus, it might have been one of the straws that Jews could try to get hold of to "keep afloat"? Or maybe even a distant chance/hope to be able to get out? Two small problems ??
#lithuania
Dalio Aronson <aronson@...>
Dear friends of LitvaKSIG.
In the first place I want to send here for all the brilliant ones and fighters components of this important genealogy list and discoveries of our Brazil wishes of A Happy New Year. In the second place, I would like to know how to solve two small problems: The first of them is that my e-mail moved. Now it is: aronson@digiall.psi.br, and I would like to know who to communicate to do the respective change. The second of my small problems is that thanks to List, I met one of the most important people of the European Judaism, that he is Mr. Patrick Gordon, of Paris - France, and as I had problems with my computer I lost his e-mail address, and I need to enter in contact with him. Like this if you could not supply me the address, perhaps they can publish my request on the list, and if he still is a subscriber, he can answer me. At once I thank and I wish that in the year of 5.759, this list, its competent management, and its zealous subscribers, continue forming the great fraternity to return in the great cause of preservation of our traditional Jewish values. Dalio Aronson Seeking: ARONSON (>from Stalingrado or St. Petesburg) RACHEWSKY (>from Poland or USSR) SAUT (>from Polland or USSR) SCHEINKMANN(>from Stalingrado or St. Petesburg) ASHNIN (>from Siauliai - Lituan)
