The Yizkor Book Project in July was characterized by a great deal of updates as you will see below. It is always encouraging to see the projects make progress - step by step - till the final goal is reached and the complete Yizkor book is translated. This amazing progress is due to the untiring determination of the coordinators leading these projects and they certainly deserve our salute for all that they do. In the individual Yizkor book projects, the blue links appearing in the table of contents of each project lead to the articles that have been translated. I'm quite often asked about why articles that don't have blue links can't be read and if a paid subscription is required to see the "hidden" articles. No, there is no charge for reading the articles that have been translated and, on the contrary, and our basic aim is to allow free, global access to everyone for the translated Yizkor book material. So if the article isn't available and you are interested in reading it, the next logical step would be to assist with financial support in the translation of the article. For this it is worthwhile looking at and donating to the specific Translations Fund project if it is listed on the JewishGen-erosity page (link at the end) or by contacting myself so that I can provide you with an estimate of the cost of translation and you can decide if it's something you are able to take on. For those of you who would like to know more about the Yizkor Book Project and will be at the upcoming IAJGS Conference in Seattle, I warmly recommend you taking part in our Yizkor Book Birds of a Feather meeting. This year it is being led by Max Heffler who is and has been an integral partner in our Yizkor Book team and has a great deal of knowledge and experience regarding the project. For those of you who are going to the conference, I do wish you an excellent and rewarding time whilst you're there. The Yizkor Book Project in July was characterized by a great deal of updates as you will see below. It is always encouraging to see the projects make progress - step by step - till the final goal is reached and the complete Yizkor book is translated. This amazing progress is due to the untiring determination of the coordinators leading these projects and they certainly deserve our salute for all that they do. In the individual Yizkor book projects, the blue links appearing in the table of contents of each project lead to the articles that have been translated. I'm quite often asked about why articles that don't have blue links can't be read and if a paid subscription is required to see the "hidden" articles. No, there is no charge for reading the articles that have been translated and, on the contrary, and our basic aim is to allow free, global access to everyone for the translated Yizkor book material. So if the article isn't available and you are interested in reading it, the next logical step would be to assist with financial support in the translation of the article. For this it is worthwhile looking at and donating to the specific Translations Fund project if it is listed on the JewishGen-erosity page (link at the end) or by contacting myself so that I can provide you with an estimate of the cost of translation and you can decide if it's something you are able to take on. For those of you who would like to know more about the Yizkor Book Project and will be at the upcoming IAJGS Conference in Seattle, I warmly recommend you taking part in our Yizkor Book Birds of a Feather meeting. Russia. Although many of these resources are available on other sites, access via the Internet Archive is fast and the concerns over virus laden Russian websites where some originated is nil. Among the 455 volumes, there are some index volumes which only state the names of those convicted of infractions. Most volumes contain detailed information, albeit with the use of many abbreviations. The information in the detailed records generally follows this pattern: Surname, Given Nane, Patronymic Place of birth Year of birth Age Description of Infraction Sentence Date of sentence/jailterm There are approximately 12 volumes for each year. Records are sorted in alphabetical order by surname regardless of location within the Empire. This makes searching for names "genealogically friendly". Excluding the volumes containing only indexes of names, a count of the names yields just over 3.5 million names. A quick check of several hundred names in one volume containing surnames beginning with the letter "A" yielded approximately 5% Jewish names. A similar check later in the alphabet, say, using surnames beginning with P, R, or S, might have a larger number of Jewish records (not necessarily by percentage). The 455 volumes of Certificates of Conviction are in the process of being uploaded. I expect the upload to complete by this Sunday 8/7. In the meantime, one should be able to view those volumes already uploaded (over 240 volumes). An index to some of the abbreviations used will be made available at a later date as well as a detailed listing of the record year and volume number against the Russian library book number. The Yizkor Book Project in July was characterized by a great deal of updates as you will see below. It is always encouraging to see the projects make progress - step by step - till the final goal is reached and the complete Yizkor book is translated. This amazing progress is due to the untiring determination of the coordinators leading these projects and they certainly deserve our salute for all that they do. In the individual Yizkor book projects, the blue links appearing in the table of contents of each project lead to the articles that have been translated. I'm quite often asked about why articles that don't have blue links can't be read and if a paid subscription is required to see the "hidden" articles. No, there is no charge for reading the articles that have been translated and, on the contrary, and our basic aim is to allow free, global access to everyone for the translated Yizkor book material. So if the article isn't available and you are interested in reading it, the next logical step would be to assist with financial support in the translation of the article. For this it is worthwhile looking at and donating to the specific Translations Fund project if it is listed on the JewishGen-erosity page (link at the end) or by contacting myself so that I can provide you with an estimate of the cost of translation and you can decide if it's something you are able to take on. For those of you who would like to know more about the Yizkor Book Project and will be at the upcoming IAJGS Conference in Seattle, I warmly recommend you taking part in our Yizkor Book Birds of a Feather meeting. The Yizkor Book Project in July was characterized by a great deal of updates as you will see below. It is always encouraging to see the projects make progress - step by step - till the final goal is reached and the complete Yizkor book is translated. This amazing progress is due to the untiring determination of the coordinators leading these projects and they certainly deserve our salute for all that they do. In the individual Yizkor book projects, the blue links appearing in the table of contents of each project lead to the articles that have been translated. I'm quite often asked about why articles that don't have blue links can't be read and if a paid subscription is required to see the "hidden" articles. No, there is no charge for reading the articles that have been translated and, on the contrary, and our basic aim is to allow free, global access to everyone for the translated Yizkor book material. So if the article isn't available and you are interested in reading it, the next logical step would be to assist with financial support in the translation of the article. For this it is worthwhile looking at and donating to the specific Translations Fund project if it is listed on the JewishGen-erosity page (link at the end) or by contacting myself so that I can provide you with an estimate of the cost of translation and you can decide if it's something you are able to take on. For those of you who would like to know more about the Yizkor Book Project and will be at the upcoming IAJGS Conference in Seattle, I warmly recommend you taking part in our Yizkor Book Birds of a Feather meeting. This year it is being led by Max Heffler who is and has been an integral partner in our Yizkor Book team and has a great deal of knowledge and experience regarding the project. The Yizkor Book Project in July was characterized by a great deal of updates as you will see below. It is always encouraging to see the projects make progress - step by step - till the final goal is reached and the complete Yizkor book is translated. This amazing progress is due to the untiring determination of the coordinators leading these projects and they certainly deserve our salute for all that they do. In the individual Yizkor book projects, the blue links appearing in the table of contents of each project lead to the articles that have been translated. I'm quite often asked about why articles that don't have blue links can't be read and if a paid subscription is required to see the "hidden" articles. No, there is no charge for reading the articles that have been translated and, on the contrary, and our basic aim is to allow free, global access to everyone for the translated Yizkor book material. So if the article isn't available and you are interested in reading it, the next logical step would be to assist with financial support in the translation of the article. For this it is worthwhile looking at and donating to the specific Translations Fund project if it is listed on the JewishGen-erosity page (link at the end) or by contacting myself so that I can provide you with an estimate of the cost of translation and you can decide if it's something you are able to take on. For those of you who would like to know more about the Yizkor Book Project and will be at the upcoming IAJGS Conference in Seattle, I warmly recommend you taking part in our Yizkor Book Birds of a Feather meeting. This year it is being led by Max Heffler who is and has been an integral partner in our Yizkor Book team and has a great deal of knowledge and experience regarding the project. For those of you who are going to the conference, I do wish you an excellent and rewarding time whilst you're there.
