Re: Book on Kolemeja #general

Phyllis Kramer <phylliskramer1@...>

Elaine asked about Kolomyia (current ukrainian spelling, according
to a library of congress map).. (elaine, why not try the Jewishgen familly
finder too?)

There are two books, one in yiddish (pinkes kolomey, 1957 NY, 448 pages)
and one in hebrew (sefer zikaron le-kehilat kolomey veha-seviva,
published in tel aviv, 395 pages, 1972) Almost all yizkor books were
written in the language of the people; only a few
have been translated into english....but jewishgen has a wonderful
translation
project going on.....perhaps you or your cousin would be interested in
joining it?

both Yiskor books will be found in New York City at YIVO and the NY Public
Library and Jewish Theological
Seminary and at UCLA in California.. I'm sure there are yiskor book
repositories in Israel too.

Hope this helps

1988 and one by S. Posener, "Adolphe Cremieux (1796-1880)", pref. de

The Cremieux family is a very old family >from Comtat Venaissin, mostly from
Carpentras. Belonging to this family : Gaston Cremieux, president of the
Commune de Marseille in 1871, executed by shooting November, 30, 1871 he
screamed "Vive la Republique", Fernand Cremieux deputy (1882) and senateur
for the departement of Gard, he was the youngest deputy of France, his
daughter Suzanne Cremieux, was also senateur for the departement of Gard,
after her father, one of the first lady to have political responsability in
France.

Suzanne Cremieux's daughter Marie Claire (Servan)-Schreiber was the second
wife of Pierre Mendes-France, her son Jean Claude Servan-Schreiber is a
famous news-paper director.

I myself have some Cremieux ancestors, but the one who really worked on the
Cremieux genealogy is Michel Mayer-Cremieux, founder of the Cercle de

Where is the shtetle Boboff, and where can I find information ?
Moshe Susser<
Sorry I don't have Moshe Susser's e-mail--however, the "Shtetl Finder"
(Cohen) gives Bobova, Bobov: Bobowa, SE of Krakow -- Located north of and
close to the town of Gribov.

Hope this is of some help.

In Russian that final 'v' can be soft and sound like 'ff'.
