Searching: PROBST - SCHENKALOVSKA
#general
Guillermo Probst <gprobst@...>
I am searching for relatives of the couple Isaac PROBST-
Brucha SCHENKALOVSKA who lived in Lodz, Poland from 1870=B4s until the Holocaust. Or at least know if anyone has heard something about these surnames. I have already searched in every database I could, but I can't find anything about it. In the 1920s two of their children emigrated >from Lodz Poland, one to France (Marek) and the other to Uruguay (Sigmund Ziskind, my grandfather). There was another son (Julius) who dissapeared during the Holocaust. I believe they should more relatives. Guillermo Probst Montevideo, Uruguay

Harold Pollins <pollins@...>
The British Jewry Book of Honour, first published 1922 and reprinted
recently, purports to contain much information about Jewish service personnel in the British, Commonwealth and Empire forces during the First World War. It is an important book, containing many lists of names as well as photographs. The compilers knew it was not complete and research has shown many errors in it. One officer is listed as 'Lt E. Christian.' And the second initial of an Australian soldier, listed as 'Pte B.C. Freudenberg', is also 'Christian'. I assume these names have been included by mistake. But would it be possible for it not to be. Has anyone ever heard of a Jew whose name was 'Christian'?
