Brooklyn Death Certificates #general

Jose Gutstein <jmg-miami@...>

Anyone who has obtained death certificates >from Brooklyn, N.Y. for the
period around 1920, could you tell me if it's likely that it contains
genealogical information (father's name, mother's maiden name, place of
birth)?

Thank you,

Jose Gutstein

Dear G enners,
This was posted to the group on Sept. 10th.

Are you looking for your family roots?

http://www.preker.co.il
I went to the web site. It is obvious that "Israel" has put a lot of work
into this site. There are many interesting and informative areas. However, a
good deal of it must have been in Hebrew because it was not readable to me; it
appeared to be some type of 'code'. My computer could not 'translate' whatever
was there.
It is really too bad that I could not benefit >from all the hard work that
went into this site.
Just wanted to let others know what they might find.

We have been searching for Herbert SILVER and remember now that his wife,

B'R on tombstone #general

Mike Lipsie <Mike_Lipsie@...>

I searched the JewishGen archives and found the question asked
before but not fully answered.

My father reports that his father's tombstone has my grandfather's
name followed by B'R Shemuel HaLevi (all in Hebrew, of course).

Just what is B'R an abbreviation for?

Is it an honorific or does it indicate that my ggf was a Rabbi?

I can give the exact Hebrew if desired but I thought this would
be enough. Especially given the amount of space needed to
write it out letter-by-letter.

Thanks for any help.

mBernet: I'm inclined to think it's "einzesh" = "once"
it could possibly (since you're looking at titles) be abbreviation for
Engineer.

Theresienstadt #general

Martha Lev-Zion <martha@...>

I would like to suggest for anyone interested in finding out about their
families who may have been interned in Terezin, that they contact the
following email address. For a paltry sum, they will send you a printed
sheet including: Family name, first name, maiden name, sex, birthdate,
country, last address, what transport the person took to Terezin, >from what
country and city, and if the person survived , was transported to another
camp [with details] or if the person died in Theresienstadt, the coroner's
death certificate number is often included.

Their address: bterezin@inter.net.il or

http://www.cet.ac.il/terezin

I had no idea I had had so much family interned there until I received
the pages >from the Association.

Relations Please? #general

Len Pincus <lpincus@...>

Wow, before I could even read this mornings digest I already had about a
dozen answers to my relationship question including some jibes >from friends
in the San Diego JGS. I'm really not that lazy it's just that I feel like I
disconnected my brain when I retired after 40 years as an engineer.

Anyhow thanks to all the Jewishgenners out there who tried to answer my
question. Surprisingly enough not everyone had the same answer but the
consensus seems to be second cousin once removed.

Again THANKS for all the inputs.
