Database lists four available record groups for the town of Modliborzyce in
Tarnobrzeg Wojewodztwo.
The records are located in the State Archive in Lublin. None are vital (BMD)
records.

Q 13. Why are there no Jewish vital records in certain towns prior to the
1860s?
A. There are at least three possible reasons for the lack of records:
1. The records were kept in another town.
2. There were no Jews living in that town at that time.
3. The records were destroyed or lost.

Help in creating a searchable map #galicia

Valerie Schatzker <vjs@...>

Greetings,

I am currently in the process of revising the website for the
Drohobych Administrative District that I created a few years ago.
At that time, I included images of old maps of the area but they
were not very successful, because I did not have the ability to
create searchable maps.

I am looking for help in creating searchable maps >from these
images. If anyone has experience in this and is willing to led me
assistance, I would be most grateful.

Please contact me privately.

Writing to State Archives #ukraine

Marilyn Levinson

Dear researchers
I would like to write to various state archives mentioned in the Routes
to Roots Foundation literature. Is it best to write to the physical
address
or is there a place where I can find a list of email addresses? Also may
one write the request in English and does one have to send any money in
advance of the research? Finally has any one had any luck with reasonably
prompt responses, months, not years, and is it usual to get no response at
all?
Thank you.

Place of residence Rohatyn, Galitzia (where my grandparents came from).

Tombstone Photo Request - Chevra Thillim, Boston #general

Michael Herzlich

If anyone in the Boston area is planning to visit the Chevra Thillim
cemetery on Centre Street in West Roxbury I would appreciate it if
you could take photos of two tombstones for myself and a cousin and
forward them to my email address. If the gravesites are not close to
each other the primary photo I am requesting is for Meier Slobodkin
(d 2/26/1912) located at lot 15 grave 18. If it is not too far away
the second request is for Hyman Elias Slobodkin (d 1/1/1906) located
at lot 3 grave 16.

Two German Translations requested for 2 birth records of a sister and brother in 1886 and 1889 - #general

Karen Campbell

Dear Friends and Relatives,

We are hoping that one or two of you would be willing to look at the
two German birth records >from Ottensen, Germany, >from 1886 and 1889.
They are of a sister, Marie Johanna Bernhardine Isidore Meier, and her
brother, Carl Hermann Meier. Their mother was our great grandmother
(Marie Johanne Christiane Caroline Meier). We are hoping you can
provide information on their addresses, whether the mother was single
or married, what her occupation was, whether the children were
legitimate or illegitimate, and whether the person who reported the
births was a midwife. We know they were Evangelische but Marie Johanne
Christiane Caroline married a Jewish man, our great grandfather, Simon
Henry, and had 5 or 6 more children in the United States (NYC and
Boston). We are also wondering why no father's information was provided
on the birth records.

The two ViewMate photos can be found at:

Kfar Daniel cemetery #general

Alan Steinfeld

Hi,
I recently learned that some relatives were buried in the cemetery at
Kfar Daniel in Israel. There is no listing for a cemetery in this
village in the JOWBR Cemetery Inventory nor is there a listing on
Find A Grave.

Can anyone confirm that this cemetery exists and supply its proper name?
If anyone is in a position to help with a photo of 2 stones at the
cemetery, please contact me privately.

Thanks,
