When I was researching a possible connection to a Rabbi David of
Novarodok (18 th cent) who was also known by the name of his book
"Galia Mesechta", I was contacted by an AGOLNICK family in the USA,
possibly Boston who stated that they were descendants of the above
Rabbi and would be very happy to make contact with me as to our line.

Unfortunately I lost since then their contact information.

I would be very happy to reconnect with this family again.

Descendants of sister of Reb' Nachman of Breslev #general

Yonatan Ben-Ari

My late uncle told me that he was told by someone when he was a child
that he (we) was a direct descendant of Reb' Nachman of Breslev's
sister.

My chassidic ancestry includes descendancy >from the Mahara"l of
Prague, through R' Naftali KATZ, including an uncle who married the
daughter of the Admo"r of Lechowitz, Reb Aharon and Perel (she was a
descendant of the Karlin -Stolin dynasty).

Does the above hint to a connection to Reb' Nachman's sister. I know
that they were descendant of the Besh"t.

Connection between ENDE and EISEN families #general

Yonatan Ben-Ari

My mother-in-law"s father, Zvi Hirsch EISEN,of Zloczov and New York
was in close contact with the ENDE family in Jerusalem during the
latter part of the 19th and beginning of the 20 cent. No one in these
families know if there was a familial connection or just friends.
Does anyone know was what the connection between these families.

Yoni Ben-Ari, Jerusalem

p.s.I remember as a young man having just made aliya having met ENDE
in Rechavia. It seems that he was a good friend of my grandparents
who had no idea of my future marriage with the EISEN family.

ODIN family of Fairfield, Ct. USA #general

My wife had a late 1/2 cousin, Joey ODIN who passed away in 1982. She
never met him or any of his relatives. We only recently met the family
of Joey (the half side which are her biological relatives). If any of
Joey's children would like to (re)connect with our side of the family
we would be happy to hear >from them. If anyone knows this family we
would be happy if you could transfer this message to them.

Major addition to Kovel Yizkor book #general

Bruce Drake <BDrake@...>

A newly-translated chapter, "Thus the City Was Destroyed," has been added
to the Kovel Yizkor book:

http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/kovel1/kov411.html

This chapter of about 30 pages is a graphic, brutal and stark account of
the German occupation of Kovel and the annihilation of the Jews in the city,
as recalled by a survivor. His description of how he escaped near-death
experiences several times nearly defies belief, but much in the account
squares with other material I have come across in my researches on Kovel.

The editor of the Yizkor book, Eliezer Leoni-Zopperfin, deemed it "an
authentic historic report" and said "With this testimony, the Kovel Yizkor
Book exceeds local boundaries and becomes a universal Jewish document, so
that even those not of our city will read these shocking words with bated
breath."

1946 TWA Crash at Shanon, Eire #general

Yonatan Ben-Ari

I want to thank all the people who replied to my first e-mail.

What I am still hoping to receive is a confirmation that reservations
were made for us on this flight >from France. My main reason to
beleive that we were booked for this flight is that on news of the
crash (on the radio) my mother sent an immediate cable to her father
in Tel-Aviv that she/we were still in Cairo (B"H).

Thanks again

After noticing that the said crash took place on Saturday/Shabbat I
feel strongly that we did *not* have reservations on this flight.

I would still like to research if it is possible to track down
reservations which were made in 1946.

Daniel Horowitz <daniel@...>

Hi Friddy ,

You may not be aware of a project going on for a few years, to index
Czernowitz records:
http://microtarget.com/czernowitz/CzernowitzBMDindex.htm

Here you will be able to search BMD records since 1850 till 1942.
The project is not completed and volunteers are still working,
but about 80% of the data is available, and a new update will be done very soon.

Another source for Czernowitz records is http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/
and Edgar Hauster's blog http://czernowitz.blogspot.co.il/

Best regards !!!
