Dear all,

There is a conference video about the Zsido mult (Jewish Past) project
in Hungarian (http://youtu.be/u4mDHlVkTvA ) and you can see all the
lectures of the Kial(li)tott mult - befogado jelen?
[Exhibited/Exclaimed past - receptive present?] conference on the
szombatmagazin chanel of Youtube.
It was held about the new researches and the exhibitions of the 70th
anniversary in December in the Hungarian Jewish Museum and Archives.
Scholars and enthusiastic volunteers has given the lectures.

I have planned to write summeries about them in English but I will
have never time enough (and I don't want to torture anybody with my
English :)

So if it is not prohibited to send many links in a letter and somebody
is interested in it (speaks Hungarian or looks at the pictures of the
xhibitions):
(If it is not allowed, please cut the end of my letter. I have made
the videos but I won't get more/any money if someone looks at so it is
not an advert.)

ViewMate - photo identification request #poland

Steven Taubman <taubman@...>

I have posted a photo on ViewMate of an unidentified family member who
is dressed as a soldier. The photo is at the following address:

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM38529

Is anyone able to identify the army uniform and/or the time period of
this image (of course, it would be great to identify the actual person
as well)? This is believed to be a member of the Sperling (or Szperling)
family >from the region around Lodz, possibly Tomaszow Mazowiecki.

Thank you for your help with this.

Gesher Galicia sends condolences to our advisory board member, Marla
Raucher Osborn, on the passing of her father, Robert Raucher, in Chico
California today.

We know how close Marla was to him, and how diligently she worked -
and continues to work - to trace his roots and learn more about his
family heritage - and our thoughts are with her, her husband Jay,
brother Steve and mother, Ellie Raucher, in this time of sorrow. A
memorial service will be held in the future.

May his memory be a blessing.

Jewish and non-Jewish records. To view the records, you will need to
install (once) a .DjVu plugin for your web browser (I use the free one
from https://www.cuminas.jp/en/downloads/download_en/?pid=1, but it
might not work for some Mac users). With the plugin installed, click
on "Content presentation" at the left and then select "DjVu browser
plug-in required" in the pop-up window and press the "Show content"
button.

A name index of the birth records is on images 86-89. I looked
quickly, but did not find indices for the marriage or death records.

There are also records 1873-1880 at
http://www.bbc.mbp.org.pl/dlibra/docmetadata?id=8914, apparently, but
I have not examined them.

I do not have any connection to Biala Podlaska and cannot offer any
additional information about this material.
