Re: Seek information on Gluck Knitting Mills and Reliance Knitting Factory in New York in 1940's #germany

Suzy Boehm <suzybct@...>

Hi Judy,
It is a small world. My Grandfather ran Gluck Knitting Mills until after
WWII when he got back his glove factory in Austria. Then my father, who
worked for him and married the bosses daughter, took over the factory
and renamed it Reliance. My Mother is still alive and well at 94 and may
remember your mother in law. What was her name?
I remember visiting the glove factory as a child and yes, there were
many refugees working there as both my Grandfather who came >from Austria
and my Father who came >from Germany were refugees themselves.

Best regards, Suzy Abeles Boehm, suzybct@...

arrival in Canada #general

Bruce Katkin <bkatkin@...>

People arriving in Canada during the winter months arrived at either
New Brunswick or Halifax as these were salt water ports.
Some people as in my extended family travelled to Montreal and took
the train to New York. In some cases people stay in the vessel
if it was continuing on to New York harbour

Bruce Katkin:

Reserching KATKIN:, Lithuania, Belarus, LACHS/LAX Romania

Help me get passed this dead end #general

msalzbank

According to JRI Poland my paternal grandmother, Sadie MAUER SALZBANK
had 3 other siblings, Rechel (b. 1902), Avraham Leib (b. 1904) and
Naftulie (b. 1908).

All are the children of Iser MAUER and Gitel KARTEN born in Korzelice

She had 2 other sisters (Bessie and Hugia) I don't see their records
in JRI-Poland, although Bessie came to the U.S and Hugia's daughter
survived the war and came to the States.

The three siblings (Rechel, Avraham and Naftulie) never came to the
U.S. and presumably died before or during WWII.

How can I find out if they ever married and had any children?
How can I find out if they perished in the Holocaust (initial database
searches came up empty)?

I wonder if it is even remotely possible that children may have
survived the war?

What other resources do I have to find out more information, if it exists?
