What's the best test to reveal Caucasian ancestry? #dna

Bob Leiser <robert.leiser@...>

I am researching an ancestral family name on my mother's side,
which we'll call TheName. With one exception, every one of the
dozens of people I have contacted with this who can trace it
back far enough find it leads them to south west England. The
one exception is a black family in Jamaica. Different members
of this family have told me that the family legend has it that
the name came >from a British ancestor, and that they believe it
accounts for their reddish hair, unusual amongst people around
them.

Documentary research has failed to reveal the source of the name,
and I'm wondering whether some form of DNA test would reveal
Caucasian ancestry. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Bob Leiser

Connection between ABRAMOWITZ-Rabbi David-HURWITZ families of Novarodok 18th Century #rabbinic

Yonatan Ben-Ari

Many of you may have read my previous posts about researching any
connectionbetween the ABRAMOWITZ and HURWITZ families of Novarodok
18-19th cent. Now I am thinking if the link could be through Rabbi
David ben (son of) Moshe of Klezk who was the Rabbi of Novarodok
(a.k.a. "galiya Mesechta") during a greater part of the 18th cent. and
if he had a connection to the ABRAMOWITZ and/or HURWITZ families. I
haven't found a family name for this Rabbi David but have seen that
his son-in-law who published Rabbi David's work (s) went under the
name Rabbi RABINOWITZ.

According to an old note written by a great uncle of mine. we are
descendant of Rabbi David's brother, -we are the ABRAMOWITZ- but I
don't know exactly the line to the above Rabbi David.
