My grandfather Benno FRIEDMANN was born in Stalluponen in 1874. Does
anyone know of any civil or religious records that might exist (on
line or otherwise) that might confirm his birthdate, show who his
parents were, whether he had siblings, where he resided etc. If anyone
has any such information (or knows of someone else on the ground in
Stalluponen who might be able to assist me for a fee) I would be most
grateful if you would contact me. Thank you

My friend's grandparents were Bernhard and Erla BORNSTEIN nee

I am helping find out what happened to the siblings of his
grandmother Erla BORNSTEIN, daughter of Blima and Jakob

siblings and what we know about them:

Harry GLÜCKSMAN, fled Köln to Buenos Aires. Jewelry storeowner.
Alex GLÜCKSMAN, fled Köln to Buenos Aires.
Leo GLÜCKSMAN, last news Warsaw Ghetto with father Jakob GLÜCKSMAN.
Selma GLÜCKSMAN, married a rabbi and had 8 children. Family fled
to Holland and died Sobibor.
Lena GLÜCKSMAN, married Siegfried, lived Essen. Children Brigit
and Berthold.
Bernhard GLÜCKSMAN, sold burlap bags in Köln
Paula GLÜCKSMAN and husband and daughter fled to London
Netchen GLÜCKSMAN, died before 1924.

We are hoping there are living descendants for Harry, Alex and
Paula GLÜCKSMAN. Any information about any of the above
individuals or their descendent please reply privately to:

I recently came into possession of a number of photos which had
belonged to a friend that passed away. The surviving spouse gave me
permission to attempt to match the photos with surviving family
members. There are eleven photos, some individual people and some of
family groups, all taken in professional photo studios in either
Russia or the U.S.

Some of the photos have no identification written or printed, some
have only have a Russian Photo Studio Logo and name, however, some "do"
have hand written names on the reverse of the photos. I have scanned
the eleven photos which I will gladly send to any researcher that may
recognize any of the parties or names identified in the photographs.

Surnames that are identified on a photo are the following; Bert
NEUFELD(Connecticut), Max/Mark? NEUFELD, Benjamin & Charlotte/Lottie
SHEINFELD (Grandparents of the deceased party-also named "Charlotte"),
Irving, Phillip, Simon SAPPERSTEIN taken in a Danbury Connecticut
Photo Studio, Studio Photos >from Bialystok-but no ID, and a couple
with no Identifying information whatsoever, but most likely >from the
identified families.

I have scanned the photos, but do not wish to post them on ViewMate,
due to their number. I would however, be more than happy to send the
files to any researcher who might possibly have a connection. Please
contact me directly.

Where to search for Ship's Records Brazil #latinamerica

Rachelle Litt

It appears that my ancestor Tsilya (Silvia) Znayde and her children,
Sarah, Samuel and Joseph traveled to Brazil through the Port of Santos
Brazil on June 20, 1930 on the ship Baden. After some searching I
found a ship by the name of Baden 2 on the Hamburg-America line that
ran >from 1921-1940. How can I access these records? I seem to be
going in circles on every site I try.
Many Thanks,

Kledzer / Caldavar near Cahul ( Kagul) - Galatii #romania

Orit Lavi

Dear friends

An Israeli woman was known to be born in Kagul, "Russia".
However, according to several of her Israeli documents, she was born in a
place called "Kledzer", or "Caldavar".
The sources are in Hebrew, and look like K-L-D-Z-R (Z looks also like B/V).

In one of the formal documents, it was first written "Galaz, Romania". Then
it was erased, and changed "Russia".
Another document says that the place of birth was changed >from the above
KLDZR to Galaz.

Any idea which place it was?

Thanks a lot, and see you soon in Israel

It's easier to help you if you include a little more information,
such as where you are located, which time period you are interested
in, and what resources you have already tried. (as per JewishGen
guidelines.)

The familysearch.org catalog lists one film containing Jewish records
from Lezajsk. And the JewishGen JRI-Poland database has 900 records
containing town name of "Lezajsk".
