ViewMate Translation Request - Russian, GORECKI, WAINTROP #poland

Genealogy BLW

I missed this one when I posted the last request for translation.
It is located at:
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM38676

It is a birth record for Aydla GORECKI in 1901. I believe that she is
named after Aydla (WAINTROP) GORECKI who had recently passed away. Thus,
she should be a descendant of the particular GORECKI line I am trying to
track into the 20th century.

I need the genealogical information such as parents, names,
dates and/or ages, home towns. witnesses, names and any notes.

Please use the ViewMate form as replies remain in the JewishGen
archives.

Thank you for your help.

it will provide a direction for continued research. I need

ViewMate Translation Requests, Russian, Markuszow & Opole Lubelskie (GORECKI, LOTERSZTEIN) #poland

Genealogy BLW

I have posted two vital records in Russian at the following ViewMate
locations:

One is the marriage record for Abram Icek GORECKI and Ruchla Hinda
LOTERSZTEIN in 1873. I have already found birth records for two of their
sons, so this record should confirm that I have the correct individuals
and provide information on their parents.

The second record is potentially more interesting. It appears to be
signed by Naftula GORECKI as the father. Two of his sons emigrated to
North American, one by a circuitous route. There is rumor of a third
brother who emigrated to Canada, but no one can remember his name,
position in birth order or anything else about him. I hope that this is
the third brother who emigrated. If not, it adds another piece to the
family whose history has confounded their descendants.

New databases of illegal immigrants to Eretz Israel 1930s-48 #poland

Rose Feldman <rosef@...>

IGRA released the first installment of information regarding the
Illegal Immigration period to Eretz Israel (Palestine) >from Europe and
North Africa. The information comes >from three sources:

Atlit Database Index - In cooperation with "Bintivey Ha'apala"
Clandestine Jewish Immigration Information and Research Center in
Memory of Admiral Mordechai (Moka) Limon we are posting a partial
index of their database. Their databases span >from the late 1930's
through a few years after the recognition of the State of Israel.

Deportation Lists 1939 - This database is composed of "duplicate"
lists found in a file of the British Police in the Israel State
Archives. It contains lists of people who were on 13 ships that were
captured in 1939. The database includes the names of 6,282. This
database includes scans of the document which are can be seen by
members of IGRA.

The Illegal Immigrants 1939 -1948 - The lists come >from a variety of
places - most are Jewish Agency offices, some elsewhere. All are
currently in the Central Zionist Archives. Some lists are in English
and some lists are in Hebrew, therefore there will be two databases
depending on the language of the original documents. This will be an
ongoing project over many years, with updates of additional names to
the database.

Please understand that each document has different kinds of
information available. One of the things that makes this addition so
interesting is that some people now appear in more than one document
dealing with immigration and at a different date. This allows the
development of a timeline for that period in their life. We are
working to quickly fix a problem where the name of the Ship is not
showing on the result page.

With these additions there are now over 440,000 lines of data available!

It always helps to put the shtetl your families are >from in your post
as the names may be quite common. However, this time, I recognized that
the families mentioned in your post and another one you posted today
regarding VOLOVICH, FAKTOR & HURWITZ in South Africa are ones that
belong to several of my families who left Kupiskis and surrounding shtetls
in Lithuania, for South Africa.

For instance, Alec Sack married Charlotte Miller and they had three
children Gordon, Jeff and Azne. The Sack family was >from Simonys, Lithuania,
and the Miller (Melnick) family was >from Kupiskis, Lithuania.

You can contact me for further information.

Polish Jews deported to Kazakhhstan/Uzbekistan #galicia

Reuven Liebes <reuvel@...>

In reference to the articles in Apr. 22nd and 24th Gesher Galicia Digests

My parents - Eng. Maurycy Liebes and Dr. Ida Rosenberg Liebes - and
myself, being bourgeois, were deported >from Lwow in spring 1940 to a
small kolkhoz in Kazakhstan near ALMA-ATA and worked there. In spring
1941 we were permitted to return to Lwow, few months before the
German invasion. This was very tragic, since my parents were murdered
at Janowska Camp in 1943.

In all my research since, I have never heard about similar case of
deported Jews, who later returned to their hometown. Are there any
known documents or dates records of Polish Jews evacuated to
Kazakhstan? Were there similar cases of returning exiled families?

Any information on this would be a highly appreciated.

Regards,
Reuven Liebes

Ancestral Passport #lithuania

Michelle Essers

Hi
Where can I find out details regarding an ancestral Lithuanian passport?

My grandparents came to South Africa - date unknown.
They were married in Krugersdorp, South Africa in 1925, so they each
came sometime before 1925.

I have a feeling, Lithuania only allows ancestral passports >from dates
after 1925.

Many thanks
