Hi,

Thanks.

It's in former Saros. I had already found the Hungarian name, which
gets zero hits in the FS Catalog. The person whose birth rec. I am
looking for later lived in nearby Presov, and he's the first >from the
family born here in 1904 - the previous in faraway Mezokeresztes in
Borsod, so while I am sure I can get 1869 info in one of the Zsido
sub-directories in the Saros Census, it's not relevant.

you're seeking is
probably Komloskeresztes in Szepes megye.

Money transfers to Lithuania #lithuania

John Gross <john_gross@...>

Stephen Katz asks the following:

This subject comes up >from time to time in this discussion group.
I thought I recalled something fairly recent, but I've searched
the archived messages and have found nothing after 2012. My question
is, what is the latest information or experience about payment to
the Lithuania State Historical Archives (LVIA) for documents ordered?

I have identified a document of interest to me and LVIA's charge
will be 3.04 EUR (very reasonable, in my view) for a digital copy
plus 5.79 EUR bank taxes, for a total of 8.83 EUR -- roughly $9.50.
The funds are to be transferred to a specified LVIA account at its
bank in Vilnius. My local bank's flat rate for wire transfers abroad
is $40. Has anyone had recent experience (i.e., within the last 6
months or so) in sending payment for LVIA documents by any means
other than wire transfer, or know whether LVIA will accept other
means of payment?

I have similar problems regarding the costs of making electronic

LCVA, as recently as July 2014 and they were quite happy to take a
cheque drawn on my bank account. I don't know if this is because we are
part of the European Union but it is worth asking the LVIA the question.

Greetings Genners,

I have a card for my great aunt, Chana Gitla (KAC) SZUMSTAJN, who was
'evacuated' >from Kiev to Namangan in 1941. Incidentally, the card was hard to
find as it does not mention her married name, her given name was garbled,
and her maiden name misspelled! Since the family was >from Ostrowiec,Poland,
the card introduces more questions than it answers. Per the Yad VaShem Names List,
her husband and 2 younger children were murdered at Majdanek, but I have no
idea where the three older children (born 1920 to 1926) were. They survived
and immigrated to South America in 1946 or 1948.

I have searched for the older children in every Holocaust database
I've know of. Chaja is listed in the 'Survivors of Kielce' database,
but that's it. How do I find out where they were?

How do I find out how my aunt got to Uzbekistan, or Kiev for that matter?

Any ideas of how or why the family was split up in the first place?

I appreciate any ideas for research techniques or databases that I have
overlooked.

Educated speculations are also welcome.

Thank you,
