JRI-Poland adds more Warszawa Data to the Database #poland

hadassahlipsius

Jewish Records Indexing-Poland recently added more Warszawa data to the
JRI-Poland database.

from the LDS data we have added 1846, Birth, Marriage and Death records
from District 7,8
from the Polish National Digital Archives website we have added
1832-1843 Marriage records >from District 5 and 1848 Marriage records
from District 7,8. These records were not microfilmed by the Mormons
and never indexed before by JRI-Poland. The records are linked to the
image on the NDA website and when you search the database at
JRI-Poland.org the results will show a 'View Image' hyperlink.
When you click on the link it will take you to the image containing
that record. The NDA web site can sometimes be slow, so please be
patient when waiting for the image to be displayed. There may be
several records on an image so pan over the entire image by
clicking and dragging the grey box in the small preview window.

There is more indexing in the pipeline so you will be hearing
from me again soon!
Best of luck

Genbaza site #poland

kdspiro@...

I just came across this website that has scanned records >from several
Polish State Archives:
http://metryki.genbaza.pl/
It was somewhat complicated to get there - I was getting dead links at
first but did finally get there. You have to register and log in as
well. The site that led me there was this blog:
http://mikeeliasz.wordpress.com. There is a guide to the site on the
blog:
http://tinyurl.com/nxsryc7

Has anyone else seen this or had success finding records there? I
believe I have found one record I was looking >from the city of Kielce,
but until I can have it translated, have no idea yet whether it is the
right one. I will put it on Viewmate.

improving contrast on images from AGAD in JRI-Pl #poland

Milton Koch

Is there any way to improve the contrast of some of the images? I have
found a birth record but can't read anything about the mother's
information.
Will I need to order a copy directly or is this the best image
available?
Thank you.

Hi,

In the Jewish Gen database at the following link, there are two overview
photos of the cemetery and three photos of individual graves >from the

Thanks!

Thanks very much for that link! I was able to find information on two poople I
didn't even know were in the Civil War! Also, the link you gave is connected to
a free 1860 census search, as well as military records.

So if you want free access to that census, this is a good search tool.

This past December, at a viewing for a Judaica auction in NYC, I saw a
Hebrew poster >from 1937 Eretz Israel announcing a prayer service marking the
coronation of King George VI. It included the startling line which
transliterate: "Ha'Melech George Ha-VI Ve'Ha'Malka Elisheva". [Elisheva
being the woman later known as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother].

The poster can be seen online at:
http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21388/lot/191/

Ittai Hershman

Moderator Note: The poster is entirely in Hebrew. The side notes at the auction
website explain the "startling" line transliterated above. Thank you, Mr. Hershman.
