Gedmatch/Admixture question #dna

Elaine Bush <erbush@...>

I'll start this off by admitting I am no expert on the whole
DNA/genealogy subject and I know even less when it comes to
admixtures. I *think* I know what an admixture is. That's
the extent of it. Here is the question I posted on the Gedmatch
forum yesterday. Thought I'd post it here, too. I would
appreciate any comments.

<<FTDNA MyOrigins places my origins at 86% Jewish Diaspora and
14% Middle East (East Asian-Caucasus (Turkey/Georgia etc).
Preiously, Population Finder had me at 100% Middle East Jewish.
My paternal grandparents both show deep Sephardic roots --
sharing a MRCA around the time of the Inquistion (Ashkenazi
Iberian project at FTDNA), including an oral history on one
side.

I did a little sleuthing around the internet and came across
the Azeri-Jews (Mountain Jews) of the Caucasus and was
intrigued that perhaps this was part of my ancestry. I asked
Bennett Greenspan about this and he said (given my Sephardic
connection) that the 14% probably did relate to my Sephardic
ancestry and that MyOrigins was not very good at picking out
Sephardic origins yet. I might mention that the oral history
includes a story of Persian origins as well-- which actually
seems to fit with the origins of Mountain Jews (Azeri) of the
Caucasus.

Below is the Gedmatch Admixture result on EurogenesK13 Oracle
(first 8)

Mixed Mode population sharing
1 72.3% Ashkenaze 27.7% Lebanese Druze
2 75.5 Ashkenazi 24.7% Lebanese Christian
3 67.7 Ashkenazi 32.3 Cyprian
4 76.3 Ashkenazi 23.7% Samaritan
5 81.1 Ashkenazi 18.9 Assyrian
6 74.2 Ashkenazi 25.8 Lebanese Muslim
7 83 Ashkenazi 17% Azeri Jewish
8 84.1 Ashkenazi 15.9 Georgian Jewish

Can someone please explain how I might interpret this? Are the
above listed "mixed Mode population sharing" mere suggestions
as to how my origins might divide? Is this where prior
knowledge comes into play? Would I be correct to assume that
#7 and #8 might indeed correlate most closely to my family?
And that it corroborates the MyOrigins findings? Or am I
simplifying matters to meet my wishes!?>>

(Ireland) Proposed Irish Bill On Historical Registers To Be Placed Online #general

Jan Meisels Allen

I recently reported that the www.irishgenealogy.ie , the website to the
on-line Indexes of the Civil Registers (GRO) of Births, Marriages, Civil
Partnerships and Deaths placed births, marriages and deaths on
line-including living people. The Irish Data Protection Commissioner Billy
Hawks Due intervened and The Department of Arts, Heritage and the
Gaeltacht removed the database of civil registration records >from the
website on July 18. Also reported earlier this month, Joan Burton,
Minister for Social Protection announced that she would be publishing the
Civil Registration (Amendment) Bill 2014 in which I will be providing for
certain historic records to be made available online direct to the public.

The amendment bill is introduced and several provisions allow online access
via the Department of Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht's genealogical website
to Births more than 100 years; Deaths more than 50 years;
Marriages more than 75 years

(See http://www.oireachtas.ie/documents/bills28/bills/2014/7114/b7114s.pdf
Amendment of section 61 of Principal Act Section 22 page 32).

(MOD: http://preview.tinyurl.com/p5btff6 )

As with most legislation, we don't know what changes may occur during its
legislative journey.

Other provisions include: records of deaths of Irish persons who died while
on a short-termed absence abroad
Compulsory registration of a father's name on birth certificates when the
child's parents are not married to each other.

To mr. Craig Patridge:.
Although some of the mentioned prisoners` names are German,
I think that those prisoners were not Jewish.

Seeking WW I POW camp Commandant #austria-czech

Paul King

According to fairly reliable family oral history, a family member was a
Commandant of a German Prison of War camp during WW I. This duty would
assign him to the officer class. Unfortunately, he has the common surname,
Fischer, and additionally, we do not know which brother, Bernhardt (var.
spellings) or Ludwig, attained to this post. Family History Library records
are not available in my country. What search options remain to me?

How to locate a property w/out knowing the address [Berlin] #germany

Irene Newhouse

There is a painting by Paul Hoeniger (1865-1924) called "Goldschmit's
Villa", owned by the art museum in Kaunas, which has licensed its
reproduction, so that you can find images of it online in many places.

Paul Hoeniger's mother was nee Goldschmidt. His sister Rosalie (1866-1919)
married cousin & Regierungsbaumeister Rudolf Johann Goldschmidt(1850-1915).
RJG designed and built an apartment building at Schoenberger Ufer 36a in
Berlin, where, according to online directories, he lived until his death,
and passed to his two sons. It still stands (the street has been
renumbered since then, though) and is not the building depicted in
Goldschmit's Villa. Descendants believe he also owned a summer place
outside the city somewhere, but no one knows the address any more.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this vacation property might
be identified? (I have corresponded with the museum. They sent me their
best decipherment of a note glued to the back of the picture; it
seems to contain the Schoenerger Ufer address, & appears to be signed
by the artist's widow. That was before I learned that it can't be the
Schoeneberger Ufer building, which, for one thing, has always been
stucco instead of brick like in the painting, and has a little tower,
which the painting does not. I've asked the museum if they could
possibly scan the note, so I could post it on ViewMate & get expert
opinions, but they've not yet responded. Might someone have a suggestion
how to locate this other property?

Thanks in advance! Irene Newhouse Kihei Hawaii USA einew137@yahoo.com
