Mar 13 at 6:42 PM  Re:Release >from Dachau 1939,

I very much enjoyed the story of your brave blonde mother and her
distinctly Viennese sense of humour and flaunting of the rules. I
immediately phoned my mother and read it to her.  My grandfather was
also arrested in May 1938 and sent to Dachau for 4 1/2 months and then
on to Buchenwald for another 4 1/2. My grandmother tried all the proper
channels before finally taking the train to Berlin and walking into
Gestapo headquarters. She was also a good-looking blonde but in her
40's. She  astonished the officers by telling them that since they didn't
want her husband in the Reich and he agreed with them, they
should just tell her what to do to get him out. And so the did. He did
not survive the war but at least did not die in a camp.
Thank
you

While there is a small Jewish population today in Sweden - about 20,000 people
- there is a history of Jews in Sweden on Wikipedia that indicate Church
records at Stockholm Cathedral record several Jewish families entering
Sweden and being baptized into the Lutheran Church, a condition at that time
imposed upon any Jew who desired to settle in Sweden
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Sweden
IAJGS also has a member society in Sweden -- Judiska Släktforskningsföreningen
i Sverige

Thank you to Randy Seaver, Genea-Musings for alerting us to this free
weekend opportunity.

I have no affiliation with ArkivDigital and am posting this solely for the

Help with Stein family in Argentina #latinamerica

Barbara Ellman

Shalom,

I am trying to locate family that emigrated to Argentina prior to 1895.

Perl HIRSCHHORN married to David STEIN in Khorostow, Ukraine (was
Austria at the time). Their son Samuel Leib STEIN was born in
Khorostow in 1891.

They lived in Entre Rios in the 1895 Argentinian census.

Perl was the sister of my great-grandmother, Golde HIRSCHHORN GOLDSTEIN.

I have located my HIRSCHHORN relatives that still live in Entre Rios,
but they have not been helpful in finding these relatives.

I have already tried contacting all JewishGenners researching STEIN in
Argentina. Any help would be appreciated.

Please share your WWI Stories whether or not you are an IAJGS Conference registrant #latinamerica

Hi,

We received an enthusiastic response to our announcement that the
IAJGS Conference was collecting family stories and related pictures of
the World War I era. Some with great stories to share asked that we
open this to non-conference registrants. We have completed the updates
to the conference website to permit this!

While we want everyone to come to Salt Lake City for the largest
annual conference on Jewish genealogy, we welcome your WWI Family
stories, even if you cannot join us in SLC or LIVE! on the Internet.
To share your story and pictures, go to www.iajgs2014.org and select
the "WWI Stories" tab. It will provide you with answers to questions
you might have and with the ability to upload your story, whether or
not you are a conference registrant.

Thank you in advance for sharing your stories and so enriching our
overall understanding of that era exactly one century ago.
