With the assistance of a kind contributor, a document I received from
the Ivano-Frankivsk Archives was posted on Viewmate and translated.
The translation is as follow:

Declaration
That the undersigned Meier Weisberg hereby confirms he is of Jewish origin.
from January 5 1917 to November 1918 he was a private in Zamosc in the
30th infantry regiment (of Austrian army).
Stanislawow, April 27, 1921

Where would I search for more information on my great-great-uncle
Meier Weissberg with regard to his military service?

Thanks in advance to all who will respond.

Australian Ambassador in Poland launches facebook site with items of Jewish interest. #general

Eli Rabinowitz

Hi All

Jean Dunn, the Australian Ambassador to Poland, Lithuania and the
Czech Republic has just launched the "Australia in Poland, Czech
Republic and Lithuania" facebook page with several articles of
Jewish interest.

One of the first items featured is about a replica roof of the
Gwodziec Synagogue installed at the new Museum of the History of
Polish Jews in Warsaw to be partially opened on 19 April. This will
be a temporary museum opening to mark the 70th anniversary of the
ghetto uprising.

The replica ceiling has been donated by an Australian, Irene Pletka,
in memory of two proud Australian citizens, her mother and father,
Lilka and Jacob (Kuba) Kronhill. They were both immigrant Polish Jews.

Re: Bucharest marriages ~1890s #romania

You might try to contact the Romanian National Archives, Bucharest
branch at dmb.an@mai.gov.ro, assuming that you have enough data, and
indeed the parties had a civil marriage.

The record would register if there was a previous marriage, assuming
there was a previous civil marriage.

I do not have the date, but I do have the names of both the bride and the
groom.
