Searching: Meyer HALPERN #belarus

mokmanrs@...

Hello all. I am searching for more information on Meyer HALPERN, born
in Russia about 1886 and arrived in America in either 1903 or 1904. He
is found on the 1905 New York Census living at 232 Monroe St with his
brother Morris Halpern, born about 1882 in Russia, and Morris's wife
Bessie, born about 1884 in Russia. There is also a boarder living with
them, Ise Keltman, born about 1886 in Russia. There are several other
Halpern individuals living at the same location, a tenement on the Lower
East Side of Manhattan, but their relation is unclear.

I believe this to be the cousin my great grandfather, Isadore Falkson,
listed as the relative he was meeting when he arrived in America in 1904
(a Meyer Halpern of 232 Monroe St).

Thanks for the help.

Can someone please advise what documents will provide surnames back
in Poland?

Searching for my grandfather's surname back in Poland, emigrated in
1905 to US.

I know his given name and his father's given name.

Thank you.

Hello,

Today, thanks to a kind gesture >from a person in my home town, I
received a photo of my grandfather's head stone >from 1940.

Now I have to find someone who can read what is probably Yiddish with
Hebrew lettering.

If anyone would be willing to translate this for me, please contact
me. I have the photo in an email.

I am trying to discern my original last name.

Thank you.

Lodz Getto Chronicle 1943/44 Online #lodz #poland

Fritz Neubauer

The publishers and authors of the five-volume Chronicle of the Lodz
Ghetto in German

Feuchert, Sascha, Leibfried, Erwin and Riecke, Jorg et al. (eds.):
Die Chronik des Gettos Lodz/Litzmannstadt.
Goettingen: Wallenstein Publishers, 2007.
(ISBN for the 1944 volume: 978-3-89244-834-1)

have now put the complete text of the Ghetto's last year >from August
1943 to July 1944 online under the address

http://www.getto-chronik.de/de/

For every day the original manuscript and other documents like lists,
announcements and posters etc. are included in the presentation. You can
click on the German or Polish version. So far, there is only a very
shortened English Version:

Dobroszycki, Lucjan (ed.) The Chronicle of the Lódz Ghetto 1941-1944.
New Haven: Yale University Press, 1984. ISBN 0-300-03208-0.

I have read that a complete Polish version was in preparation.

I hope that helps to allow easier access to this document,

Fritz Neubauer, North Germany
