Belarus Sessions at NY Seminar #belarus
David M. Fox <fox@...>
Dear Belarus Researchers,
The 19th annual Jewish Genealogy Seminar will be held in New York City
Aug. 8-13, 1999. The program chairperson for the seminar is Hadassah
Lipsius, a member of the Belarus SIG.
At the Jewish Genealogy Seminar in LA this past July, there were no
lectures specificly dealing with Belarus, although there were many that
were relevent to Belarus as well as other areas.
Are there any members of this SIG was might be interested in presenting a
lecture dealing with genealogy research in Belarus? If you are, you
should contact Hadassah Lipsius at
Does anyone have any suggestions for topics of interest to researchers
with family ties to Belaurs? Please share these with the group and we
can pass them on to Hadassah.

David, I really can't offer any specialty but Thank You for pushing for
Belorus info at the
next seminar. Even if its merely an update on the present political climate
(as Miriam Weiner did) would help. Hopefully, someone will come forth with

Seminar, their expenses are paid for my either the JGS hosting the seminar
or by a SIG, or a shared arrangement. At the Seminar in LA, I believe
there was a cost share between the host JGS and the SIG (ROM and Litvak).
The SIGS allowed for private consultations with the invited guest and
charged a fee that I believe went to the SIG to recoup the expense of
bringing the speaker to the Seminar.
