Jumping matches?

Arline and Sidney Sachs

To answer Daniel Weinberger question why parents/children
matching/nonmatching relationships, below is a simple answer:
Half of everyone DNA came >from each of their parent. When one pass their
DNA to each of their children, only half of their is pass. Therefore
there is only 1/4 chance that a matching segment of DNA between two
people, that segment is not pass on to both matching people's child.
However the two children could match each other on other segments of DNA
from their non-matching parents.

On March 24, Daniel Weinberger was puzzling about the fact that he
matches to a woman whom he calls "Anna" but not to Anna's sons, while
his own son does not match to Anna but does match to Anna's son's.
Could this be explained by a relationship between his son's mother and
Anna's sons' father?

Daniel,

What is the size of the total segments matches between you and
Anna
Abel

What is the size of the total segments matches between your son and
Anna
Abel

What is the size of the total segments matches between your son's mother
and
Anna
Abel

Also, if you phase your son's matches on GedMatch, and Anna does the
same for her son's, and then compare, you will eliminate many false
positives

Hi Dan

Most likely there is some DNA matching with Anna's son etc however it
is much smaller so is not showing. Remember each person has a different
amount of DNA material they receive >from parents, grandparents etc. I
have a strong match (with a know relative) with one person but none
showing with her brother.

I am confused. I made a DNA testing with MyHeritage and got a match with a
woman we can call Anna. But there is no match between Anna and a son of mine
who has also been tested. Maybe his DNA >from me didn't contain DNA that I
share with Anna.

Anna's sons Adrian and Abel has also been tested. There is no match between
me and any of them but between them and my tested son.

How come?
