Occupations (help with translation from German) #germany

Michael Marx <mhmarx@...>

In a handwritten documents there is a reference to an occupation which
appears to be "hansierhandel". Another person has a notation that
appears to be "schningeschaft Weinheim". Could someone tell me what
occupations these refer to.

MODERATOR NOTE: At the GerSig Website there is a link to an
extensive list of archaic German occupational terms.
Go to the "Resources" main page and then "Specialized On-Line
Dictionaries" at:

http://www.jewishgen.org/GerSIG/dictionaries.htm

However, this site was not helpful regarding Mr. Marx's inquiry.

I would like to thank the several people who responded to my request
for help translating German notations relating to occupations, and I
thought it would be useful to share the resulting information. As I was
trying to read a poor copy of a handwritten document, the words I
posted for translation were not quite correct. With the help provided,
I now can make these out as:

"Hausierhandel" - a peddler of goods who goes >from house to house or
village to village with a packsack >from which he sells his wares.

"Schuhgeschaft" - a shoe business probably a shoe shop.
