Hagit: I recommend consulting the catalogue of the archive of the
Centrum Judaicum in Berlin. The catalogue is published as:
Quellen zur Geschichte der Juden in den Archiven der neuen
Bundeslaender / herausgegeben von Stefi Jersch-Wenzel und Reinhard
Publication: Muenchen ; New Providence : K. G. Saur, 1996-
Format/Description: Book v. ; 25 cm.
Contents: Bd.6.Stiftung "Neue Synagoge Berlin-Centrum Judaicum. 2 v.
The index is very good, and includes a section on organization. With
that, you can see whether the Centrum Judaicum has any materials on
this organization. All the best,

MODERATOR NOTE: Our list system does not understand letters with accent
marks like the German umlaut (two dots over a, o or u). Please substitute
vowels with accents with the vowel + e in email to lists under
JewishGen. Words that contain foreign accents and letters may be
garbled. If Email to GerSIG has too many accented letters it will be
rejected by the Moderator. Example: Mu"nchen > Muenchen

Is "club of friends" a translation of "Gesellschaft der Freunde"? That
organization was a liberal Jewish charitable and cultural society that
operated >from 1792 until 1935, when the Nazis banned it. Until the
1880s, its members were for the most part the Jewish elite of Berlin. In
its later years it was less public and also admitted more Gentile members.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gesellschaft_der_Freunde includes a
membership list. And what a list!

Dear Gersig friends,
Dear Gersig friends,
I am looking for information about my uncle who lived in Berlin
Between 1928 – 1933 and was active in the “club of friends”.
(Probably an anti-Nazi organization).
a) Does anybody came across this group?
b) How can I contact an archive in Berlin for some details about it?
Many thanks, Hagit Matras (Hagitmatta@bezeqint.net) Israel
