Zsidohegy #hungary

Hello,

I have located one of my Szals in Zsidohegy "Jewtown".
I found him on the 1828 census for Vas, Hungary.

I am wondering where this town is located and where I
can find LDS microfilm records of people >from this
town.

I have already tried ShletlShleppers and the map on
the Eastern European Genegology webpage.

Thank you,

Denise

just a small correction: "zsidohegy" means "jewish mountain", not "jewtown". you may be confusing "hegy" with "hely", meaning place, otherwise "falu" would be the common word for town.

The 1882 Gazetteer at the Radix website lists a place called
Zsidahegy in Muraszombati j=E1r=E1s, Vas megye
<http://www.bogardi.com/gen/g163.shtml > Zsidahegy is probably too
small to be listed in the LDS catalog. Check records for
Mura-Szombat, the main town in this district, or check 1877 gazetteer
on microfiche #6000840 to find out where Jewish residents of
Zsidahegy worshipped.
